I'd sign up if it was for 200whp or something crazy like cobb and jb4 can do on a simple map, but for 54whp or something tiny lmao hardly seems worth the trouble considering the value of the car/parts at hand |

BMW has picked up a development 550i so stage 2 will be out and hopefully will work on the M5. There is one member with a M6 running 11.4 with a stage1 smoking the tires and trapping near 130mph. |

Exactly how I feel too. Not worth the trouble for such a small increase. I've been running a stock tune on my car for 14 months and I still think the car has more power than I could possibly use. Still, all I want is a simple top speed limiter removal with no bump in boost and still no tuner can give me just that.

Agreed. Personally i think this car has way more power than i need. I used to have a turbo honda making 500whp and i can tell you this, it was fun and scary but it was never a worry free ride, youre always checking gauges, looking for smoke, smelling for coolant etc. Not to mention i blew a few engines too even the fully built professionally tuned ones trying to do highway pulls. The difference is, you can buy another used honda engine for 700 bucks or a built one for a couple grand. An M5 engine is upwards of 40k, thats a risk im not willing to take. Ill drive and enjoy my car the way the factory intended. More power to you guys willing to take the plunge tho, im yet to hear of anyone blowing up the engine.
No one really knows the limits of this engine and the tranny as to how much RELIABLE power they can handle. Guess time will tell

Again I'm not worried about modding, I'm worried about being the first one to find out from BMW: "Oh even though you flashed it back to stock, our new bluetooth 3.2.1.1.23.56.2 auto logging das auto feature logged it and sent us changes in your car on December 5th 2013, so you're VOIDED" |

BMW has firmed up the DCT to take the extra power. But there's not much overhead from stock, just like the m3. I'd say a 10-15% increase is likely max

Again, old post. Haven't seen any common issues with cars under 700hp regardless of mileage. Planning on a 2014 myself. Not worried about tuning it either, ot the 200k miles its gonna get.

All my issues were never related to the mods so they covered it without question. A friend of mine had same mods and his motor went due to a bad injector and they covered it without question. Every dealer is different and depends on your relationships too. Some are fair while others will be quick to blame the mods. It's a hit or miss and as everyone says, mod at your own risk.

Using a bms piggy when they came out I think most people got a dtm until the motor got used to it being there. It was a pain in the ass for a minute. But you will end up changing your coils after using those. Piggy is a thing of the past now since so called tunes are out now. Adding dp adds a Cel but that can be sorted out w a tune When the "tune" first came out the one I used was too aggressive so I wasted money x3 on shipping the ecu back and forth. Changed venders and no issues what so ever. HCP =FAST CAR. Change of exhaust using Rpi products brings a smile. Interior of my car still is fresh. No major issues to report. Now remember though if you mod your car do expect some bugs to work out and everyone's bugs are different. I've got 101,500 plus miles now and smile everyday I drive it. It's. It not going anywhere. It's a keeper until I get my 15' gt3. Who knows when that will be. Donations are welcome.

I had mine in for a fouled plug (limp mode, etc etc) and it was replaced (along with coils) after numerous exchanges between my dealership and BMW NA.
Everything was covered completely under warranty - and I'm not stock.

Edit - crap, I just read this week. I don't think that is going to be possible with my schedule and us going out of town Friday.

I leave on Sunday. If you get a minute let's try a run. I don't understand what you mean by driver mod

As Mike said above, I'm running his stage II tune and catless downpipes. All mods are listed in my sig below.
My SA is aware of all of my mods but BMW NA is not. I'll be purchasing an extended warranty soon and if BMW agrees to it, then I'm pretty sure that there are no 'flags' - or more probably Mike's tune hides everything extremely well.
