Back to bmw . Need advise about m5
Hi guys, in past i had 2003 E46 bmw and wasnt happy with that, that car was in shop all the times. Sold that and moved to Lexus and didn’t think one day I will think about bmw again . Now it’s a time for buy something new and I was thinking about 2013-2014 m5. I know I have to buy warranty on them but With budget I can buy 2013 with 5-7 years warranty or 2014 with comp package without warranty? Also is there any app or website I can check service history with vin number ?
I want to spend about 50k and looking for blue or black with black interior with all available options |

Cars.com shows service history? I’m checking CarMax also because their warranty. It’s hard to find good deal in 2014 CPO. I’m not is rush I will wait for good deal.

I've always liked the '14 LCI updates w LED headlights and new steering wheel. I also thought they reduced the steering vibration post '13...

You can get the service print out form any BMW dealer service center,....just give 'em the last 7 digits of the VIN,....I've done this several times on several BMWs I was looking to buy,....not one dealer has ever denied my request! In disclosure, I'll only say that I've only asked about 3 dealers. Either way,...the more accurate service history of a later model BMW,...that is still under warranty would be at the dealer,....I say this because, if the vehicle is still under warranty who would even consider taking their vehicle to any other shop for service.
Now, given the high dollar cost of repairs these cars 'could' encounter,...I'd go with the '13 with warranty! Get the '13,...especially if it's loaded with options! Think about what the car will be doing for you 95% of the time,....? The Comp '14 is nice,...but oyu won't be traking it on the street! I use nearly every option on my '13 every time it is either started or is in motion!

That said, if you buy a 2014, these cars are just exiting original maintenance plans so you can assume the car was maintained properly bc the owner had all the incentive to do it for free at the dealership. A 2013 will have one year gap of maintenance you somehow have to chase down. If it's a private seller, it'll be easy, but if it's an independent dealer...good luck with that. IMO, I would highly recommend buying a '14 competition package based on the revised steering and exhaust alone. Here's a ongoing debate on this: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1166364

Guys , thanks for advise. I think I will wait to find low mileage 2014 with options, I might wait little longer to find good deal and I’m ok with that. Hopefully by summer time price drop little more on 2014.

good call, the wait will be worth it. Though note, the 2014s are rapidly exiting warranty. 2014s were built anytime in 4th quarter 2013 to 3rd quarter 2014. Meaning about half of them now are out of warranty, and other half will be going out of warranty in the next 6-months.
IMO, with a 2014 M5, getting the CP, updated navigation and steering wheel is worth it over the 2013 launch versions. I think CP alone will be more highly coveted for your next buyer. There's significant pricing compression coming for 2013s and 2014s and 2015s. As these cars go out of warranty, they'll be judged on mileage and options and not model year. I just went thru this with my M6GC purchase. 2014 M6 GC pricing are compressing between low $60s (for low mileage CPO cars) and mid-$50s (out of warranty non-CP cars). 2015s were as high was mid-$70ks early in the year. Today, they're compressing down in the high $60s (low mileage CP cars) to mid-$60s (non-CP cars). I am definitely noticing a slight premium in CP cars at least on the M6 GC. There's about a $3k premium for comparable mileage/year/condition cars with CP..

Mine has 36k miles, and all clean, no accidents.
