Quite a few UK F30's have had problems with one or other of the sounders failing.
My low tone went leaving just the higher pitched one, so it sounded like a child's toy car. I then had the high tone one go a week before my car was due in for a service. I wanted to see if I could sort it out myself, so I removed the front arch liner as the horn on the F30 is behind the headlight and supposed to be protected from the elements. The unit was soaking wet, despite having had a few warm dry days, so I figured the cause was that water was getting into the unit itself and corroding the peizo element causing it to short out. I then found out how much a new horn unit was so, as it was due in, I let the dealer sort it out under warranty and the work sheet showed they replaced both horn sounders and the fuse in the front fusebox. |

Thanks, this is very helpful. I checked the fuse and it was good so it might be the horn itself. |

The two wires behind the airbag that control the horn are super fragile. May have a short or the clip may have come loose. I would check that first before replacing a horn.

On the F30, you remove the front wheel and inner wheel arch liner and can then access the horn sounders. It looks similar on the F10 from the pictures on this thread:
