well i can be added to this i got the error message this morning.
I just got my car back from BMW they did: -Oil Change (currently car has 53k miles) -Coding on the cameras i was getting a camera malfunction but they worked fine. -Full Detail (inside outside and engine bay) -New summer tires installed. The only thing i could think of is the the detail guy could have gotten some sensor wet and cause this issue? When i drove it home last night from work it was fine, this morning on my way from work after 7 min of running i got the error message. I was merging into a high way and i was in Sport plus mode on auto shifting and Sport on the steering wheel. Called my guy at bmw and he is getting more info from the techs. After 5 min of driving at only 65 mph because it wont go pass that the error code on the display went away but the CEL is now still on. The car can now go over 65 and seems to be pulling hard but i feel like it has a boost leak or clutch slipping. . . ughhhh

hey neighbor we both in NJ. If you were just at BMW you could call your rep and ask what it might be. Do you have OBD cable and the software to read the codes? or have you used the hidden menu to see if any codes come up? You could try and get OBD cable and ISTA to read the codes and see if there is something that pops out. You can then use http://bmwfault.codes/ and see if you can figure out what each means. Hope some of this helps you.

-Don't let anyone clean anything you own unless you give absolutely zero shits about it. Lots of reasons here: 1)95% of non-major damage and wear comes from cleaning(even when you, the owner, does it carefully and meticulously, u need lots of exp like me and spend money {always using brand new cloths, sponges, etc, and knowing what products to never use from trial and error thankfully learned on lesser vehicles than the M5}) the other 5% comes from the road.. and stuff like jackasses that cut their grass into the road. 2) people you pay to clean your stuff dont give a shit about your stuff and want to do just enough with minimal effort to make it look clean enough for you to pay them and they can be gone. 3) people that clean your really nice stuff usually develop a spiteful bone and there are many things they can do and it will never be found until way later and you'll never know how or why it happened much less who did it or when 4) asking someone to detail your ENGINE BAY?! WTF HELL NO.. thats asking for a problem i guarantee they just blasted your shit with the water hose bc.. its quicker to clean an engine bay: i use charmin natural buttwipes (no perfumes, etc) for the engine bay. delicately wipe only surface areas. then come back with a spray bottle that sprays only a thin mist and microfiber and careful to not let it snag on any delicate and expensive component. slow and careful and DAMP DRY is the name of the game with engine bay cleaning. and never finish it off with armor all or anything bc its just glue for dirt and preserves nothing. if you think you can find a detail guy that is that good or careful, GOOD LUCK.. i know they are out there but not in my state. those ppl only exist in Jay Leno's garage. Case in point.. theres a guy in my area friend of friends that details cars, and posts on instagram.. the things i see him do to cars.. omg.. i would never let him touch anything of mine he posts vids of him doing it too.. we are talking spraying soap and water all over electric components then brushing it all around with a stiff bristle brush some ppl actually called him out on that but washes in full sun and this dumbass put armor all on the leather seats in a jaguar!! LOL and posted it like, look how shiny i made this antique jag's seats hahaha. idiot thats what u get.. same with housekeepers too |

Will be keeping in the car at all times should the need arise, this is a worthwhile part to keep inside should one start playing up and the BMW recovery guy discovers that it is needed. |

I just bought an used 2015 M5 CP with 45k miles on it, it had an impeccable service record from Pacific BMW and zero accidents. the car had zero mods and after about three weeks of owning it, it has had four or five drivetrain malfunction warnings with last two of the incidents the car refused to restart. I had to do a complete shut down of the engine and restarting it almost like restarting your windows computer.
the car is currently sitting at Monrovia BMW getting checked out under warranty that will expire by June of this year. Edit to add: Just got a call from the dealer, its a low pressure fuel pump that went out. it will take a few days to order it and installed. Last edited by SMGLee; 05-13-2019 at 06:28 PM.. |

I unfortunately just got this same message under hard acceleration and went into limp mode. My car is completely stock. 2015 117000km. This is my 3rd week of ownership and I will change the plugs next week to see if that helps. I replicated the same symptoms again in sport+ in all settings with hard acceleration about an hour later. Hopefully there is no underlying issues.

Okay, sadly got this warning today. 80k km, bm3 stage 1 without any other modifications.
I was in auto and 2nd drivelogic. When I start from the rest and making a left turn, a sudden kick comes (probably 2nd gear to 3rd gear) and DT malfunction pops up. Then the car’s in limp mode. I’ve check the error code that was about “rail sensor pressure too low before start”. I cleared the error code and restart, everything works fine Any idea? |
