Thought they are gloss black.
But I guess they could be changed, mine were in pretty bad shape. If you have a valve in the outer most tip, it's the competition pack exhaust. |

Clean them off and take a higher resolution pic with better light. Stock CP tips are like a "black chrome" finish. All M5s have the valve btw so that doesn't make a difference. CP has a different muffler but you can't tell anything externally.
So what you probably have there is 1 of 2 possibilities. 1) The black tip was previously cleaned with a harsh abrasive cleaner. I did that once on my original tips. Finish can come right off of you're not careful. Luckily BMW covered under warranty. That's good because the tips aren't cheap! 2) The owner simply changed out the tips to chrome. Many people do this. I changed mine to aftermarket, I personally don't like black exhaust tips. Try to look for other signs of the CP. 601M wheels. Lower ride height. Anything you can tell like that? Hard to pinpoint the other equipment without a more thorough look under the hood. But if BMW already confirmed, what are you worried about? It's a factory installed option.
