Radar detectors - in 2020 which is best?
Hi all,
I'm searching for opinions/recommendations on a good radar/laser detector...up to date for 2020 real world. |

Escort Max 360c, Valentine 1 V2 and the Uniden R7 are the top 3 right now.
I've been a diehard Valentine fan, but I would put my vote down for the Uniden R7 for 2020.

Is it because the Uniden has the built in GPS? I also love the Valentine, but have no experience with the Gen 2.

Uniden is an old player and got left in the dust the last couple decades by Valentine and Escort. Looks like they came back with a surprisingly good product.
I have no experience with the R7. Just the old Escort 9500ix and Valentine One V1. My opinion was just based on some YouTube research. This guy does some good reviews. Check it out.

The 360c is awesome. Not rated for the same distance in most cases (check out Vortex radar tests), but has the most features. Great for a set it and leave it system that auto learns false alerts. For what it's worth I run segmented sweeps on any radar I use just because it keeps it pretty silent. |

Where I live in Tennessee KA band is still king. I have a Escort 9500ci in the M5 and the wife’s car. It’s older but still gives tons of range and has gps auto lockouts. I really like not having a detector hanging on the windshield.

I got a uniden R3 last year and I'm really liking it. I'm definitely looking into getting a Uniden R7 sometime this year. I had an Escort 360max (I believe) that one Costco sold but didn't really like it (false alarms, using the app). As for the Valentine, I know plenty of guys that run that and are very happy with it as well.

R7 here; works great but I don't have much to compare to, just online reviews/videos. I'll be mounting it soon via blend mount and mirror tap.

I have the Escort 360c Max and I bought my wife the Uniden R7. Both units perform really well. The 360c's arrows put it on par with the Valentine imo. Its not cheap but its worth it.

I have the Escort Passport 9500ci w/ Laser Shifter. The only issue I have had so far is the increased use of Blind Spot Monitoring on some vehicles, but the Laser Shifter has saved my ass on many occasions. The 9500 has been superseded and have been contemplating an upgrade but whatever I get must have a laser diffuser capability.

They may tell you where the police are, or where speed traps/cameras are but it's better to have real-time detection. I've seen Waze be inaccurate, late, or just plain not alert when your driving on a rural road or areas where there aren't many others using waze and reporting.

Waze relies on crowd sourcing. If you are the one that gets stopped other people "snitch" and it will save everyone else.
My luck I'll be the guinea pig. I'd rather not. I do still use waze/google maps. And nothing saves you from laser. Just hope someone else gets nailed |
