Replacing fuel pump and EKPS with Tune. Want to avoid EMS lock.
So my 2015 M5 with Stage 1 is at the dealer, needs new fuel pump and EKPS.
My rep is saying that they have had issues with cars like mine reprograming the EKPS and the EMS when there is a tune. Said if the new fuel pump control unit is installed and programmed, aftermarket coding will be cleared and the DME may be locked out. (DME is supposedly on backorder for 30-60 days and $3600) I said I could come flash the car back to stock, but he said there is still the POTENTIAL for the DME to be locked out. Only option suggested was that I find a shop that will install the EKPS and program that individually to avoid this issue of the EMS lock. Anyone have any experience with this? Shops to recommend? (I'm in Irvine, CA) Or will I be all gravy after the flash to stock? Any response is MUCH appreciated! Last edited by TREXXX; 09-13-2022 at 05:52 PM.. |

I don’t believe the pump controller needs coding. I swapped one in my car and it worked fine. Maybe the brand new ones need coding but I doubt it. I don’t think you have anything to worry about but it never hurts to be cautious.
