High speed driving (300 kph, 186 mph)

When driving safely at +300 km/h, it is very important that the technical condition of the car is 100% in order. For example, if the shock absorbers, wishbones or stabilizer bar connections show slight wear, this is often not noticeable at 130 km/h and not a problem at all.
However, at high speeds such as 300 km/h, the effects of minor wear and tear on suspension components increase exponentially. It may be the case that wear on the above-mentioned parts is not noticeable at 130 km/h and leads to a practically undriveable car at 300 km/h. Because the car then becomes lost, floating and almost uncontrollable.

It goes without saying that the tires/tire pressure must also be suitable and the alignment must be in order to drive safely at +300 km/h.

And if everything is physically in tip-top order, many BMWs still have to adjust the shock absorbers. The F10 M5 has three EDC settings: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.

What I found out this morning during testing on the German A31 is that my F10 travels safest en most secure at +300 km/h:
- With 2.8 bar on the front tires and 3.0 bar on the rear tires (measured cold)
- With the dampers in Sport mode. So not in Sport Plus.

I didn't expect the latter. It probably has to do with the fact that in my case the OEM shock absorbers work together with H&R 28871-1 springs.

The highest speed achieved this morning was 324 km/h. There was more to it but I didn't try looking for the V-max.

I gather you have that front splitter on the car shown before which adds to more speed and stability at over 250kph.

You are right. I had it but I uninstalled it because it made the car to low for the traffic barriers here in the city :duim omlaag.
Only optional aerodynamic feature I have is the OEM M5 spoiler on the trunk.

This is why I won't fit a splitter on mine because of the car hating councils wasting taxes from over charged legal residents on humps and other traffic obstructions especially in the larger overcrowded cities.
