BMW is likely to have a great year in the US because their main competitor, Lexus, can't build cars right now.

I strongly doubt it as an option since that will balloon costs.
I suspect that Biermann was referring to M variants of future BMW vehicles. |

Why would somebody who lives in the mountains with unpaved roads where there's always snow on the ground be in the market for a high performance road car?

But why drive a performance car in those conditions in the first place??? Makes no sense. You loving that M performance on unplowed roads with 6 inches of snow???

I just hope they don't raise it for AWD like they do with other models. Now that I hate!...or why not make it optional raise? |

I guess no one cares that:
Audi Porsche Lamborghini Ferrari All have models with AWD. None of those cars are fun to drive. They're all useless with their understeer, and can never get the tail going. Supercars have AWD and RWD. That's so despicable! Grow up people, and buy whatever AWD or RWD you want. Bitch as much as possible if BMW only gives you 1 option. |

2) I like living in the mountains 3) When I come down off the mountain, which is daily, the roads are usually pristine. 4) I usually have heavy snow about 4 months a year, and dont want to drive an SUV on nice roads after I'm off the mountain. Snow tires dont cut it where I live, AWD is the only way I get around whenever its winter. So an AWD M car would be great for me. I'm sorry people assume that those of us who buy xi's and AWD versions would do fine with snow tires, thats simply not the case. |

YESSS!!! the m5 isn't supposed to be a track machine (which is what RWD would be good for), it is supposed to be a very fast cruiser. With x-drive, the launches are going to be INSANE! look at the GT-R and 997.2 Turbo... they are both AWD and get sub-3 sec 0-60 times... hopefully the x-drive M5 will be in the sub-3.5 sec range..
510+ lb-ft of torque is going to be close to impossible to put down to the rear wheels alone without a lot of slippage

The original answer was taken out of context.
This answers your questions regarding xDrive. But basically customers want All Wheel Drive and they want weight loss too, but you cant have one without the other. But if you want xDrive there will be other choices to accompany the X5M and X6M , we are looking at a potential X1M. But at the end there is a nice prelude there to Carbon Fibre roofs. Make of that ,what you can?

I'm fine with BMW offering the AWD M5 as long as they continue to offer the RWD version as well. Better both than just one. Imagine a big, 560hp "bavarian Impreza" drifting along?

Wake the F. up. Almost all of the super high end sports car makers have an AWD variant.
Stop crying and think for a split second.
