Rob go to utube and see Chris Harris "drive" in the new GT3, and his comments about not having a stick he was disappointed. However, during the drive he didn't miss it. By the way his personal car is a GT3 RS 4.0. I have a stick in my 991S (7SP) But rumor with Porsche they're all going away just like the M5. Evolution sucks

Where did you get that from? The 2013 were not scheduled, and was changed last minute my friend. 2015 they will be gone and done as the GT3. Too much cost to run the line with little takers.

This may be superfluous since you guys have F10 M5s already, but the M-DCT seems faster to me than the PDK in the GT3 video. Not saying anything about the car beyond the shift speed - I'm sure it's the tits - so keep your porsche-loving pants on..

LOL ---- didnt know you had the shift time meter on board........ (I joke) Like you said "seems"...... but the BMW does shift damn fast while the Pcar is more of 8500 rpm thrust. I like my Porsche Pants AND my Bimmer pantalones...

The Albert Biermann quote is in reference to the F10 M5 being the last generation with manual transmission for the M5, not 2013 being the last Model year for the F10 M5 manual transmission. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708248 No Manual Transmission for Next Gen M5 Confirms BMW M Engineering Head If you're an M5 and manual transmission fan then this current F10 M5 generation will be your last chance to own the combination. BMW M's head of engineering, Albert Biermann let on this week to Insideline that there are no plans to fit the next generation M5 or M6 with a manual transmission. Manual transmission is currently offered as a no-cost option for the F10 M5 in North America (only) and will likely become an option for the F12/F13 M6 as well. The 2015 M5 will be the current generation not the next generation M5. In view of the costs required to bring the manual transmission to market, it is highly unlikely that BMW would cease to offer the manual transmission in the middle of Model Production Runs (F10 M5, F12/13 M6s) |

HOWEVER, I also heard a rumor from a highly credible source that the M Division has not received an approved R&D budget and that may mean the end to M cars as we know it in the very near future (ie: there may not even be a "next generation" M5). Rumor also has it that the plans for the new X5M have been put on hold. All of this in light of the massive investment that BMW has made into Hydrogen technologies. I wouldn't sweat it - the N division contributed very little to our //M cars..
Seriously though, in this day of 500+ hp cars from every manufacturer, I don't see BMW dropping the M cars any time soon. Instead, they'll just become less bespoke - tuned up versions of their non.//M counterparts. The S85 and S65 were likely the last fully //M engines we will see for the foreseeable future.

I hear ya! I love my paddles as you love your stick. Rememeber the world is build on margin, and a small percentage wants and they could reverse that at the drop of a dime. The same outcry occured with Ferrari and others, and they pressed on minus a stick. My 991S is a stick |

Concur with Coldlist whole heartedly... MTs may give you a visceral or emotional connection to your car that you enjoy, and that's great.
But performance-wise, automatic systems will continue to be more and more prevalent. Enjoy your MT along with your abacus, typewriter, revolver, prop airplane, hardbound book, and rotary phone. I'll take better tech anyday
