The Eurocharge tune is the press file that everybody already has and you can't remove the top speed limiter or remove the CEL from running catless downpipes. Nobody has been able to break the encryption on the ECU in order to write custom files.

I ran against a friends press file "tuned" M5 in my '14 M6, we were dead even. Immediately after I ran against another M5 without the press file I pulled more than 2 car lengths stock v stock. So the press file does make the car faster. Reliability is an unknown factor at this point, but I doubt BMW would load a tune that would cause harm to the engine in short-term or longterm. My first reaction when I ran the tuned car was that he was running a competition package file.. perhaps they're the same file.. only time will tell.

I wonder how the press tune would react to catless downpipes.
It would have been nice to see IND do more RND on more basic parts before the big turbo kit..

So what is the update on the 1000hp build? Is everything on hold due to unbreakable encryption? It's been 2 years since our cars have been out and not a single tuner has been able to do this. Maybe standalone is the answer.

Not sure standalone is even an option lol, imagine the wiring and electronics associated to that! Don't think I'd trust a standalone tuning the valvetronic in our motors. Definitely for race cars/ high(er) hp motors. I'm also curious on the updates

A team of hacking professionals worked around 6 years without any progress on the Sony PS3, George Holtz accomplished it single handedly in 5 weeks. He also jailbroke the iphone at 16. It just takes the right person. Is the incentive there for the right person to do it? |
