Out of all the parties that I've been to, thank goodness none of the fellow party-goers dressed like this. They can have all that happy/hardcore, plur bullshit. Just make the damn ground shake.

Back in the day in Seattle when I frequented raves (late 80s/early 90s) I remember seeing more of a semi goth look and also people into wearing Dr. Seuss type long hats, etc. That earlier photo just looked like a bunch of nerdy dudes trying to look hip but failed miserably.

Search for "Matrix Reloaded Zion" on YouTube.

I know this isn't the music thread but since we're on the subject of raves, I remember this track(1991 release). This was the shit back then, at least for my friends and I.
This was hardcore techno and there will never be a generation of music production like this ever again IMO. Listening to this stuff on X and in a warehouse of Dr. Seuss delights and chicks half naked in cages.... EDIT: If you read some of the comments on YouTube it gives you insight as to how epic this track was in the early 90s. Lots of folks bashing the later generation. The most recent comment was 7 years ago! Lol. Last edited by TiMSport; 07-22-2021 at 05:10 PM.. |

Music just isn't the same anymore. People knew how to play instruments and produce real music, unlike the majority of shit that is on the airwaves today. I guess technology played a role in that. It became so easy to put together a few notes into a track and suddenly it's music. Admittedly it's fun to have such powerful tools like that. From '93 I lived abroad so I was completely out of the scene here in the US for a period of 10 years. It's one of the reasons there are certain genres of music or artists I never got into. Maybe an entire generation. |

I find myself constantly correcting kids that call festivals and venue events "raves". Listen here little girl, this is not a rave, this is a DJ playing a sponsored and publicized event at a sports arena. Just because you put on fuzzy boots, are wearing a bikini and have a blinking glowstick necklace on does not make you a raver. Genres have changed a lot and a lot have went mainstream. |

1. Sara (sorry about the preview/copyright marks)
2. This detention scene made me think Murf993 must've worked like that. And by the way, this girl fight scene resembles the quarrel in this thread. |

Haha, funny, but I'm not pretending to be anything. Picked that username because it's another version of my name, which is Steven. Maybe I should change my username to Little Steven. Then I'd be pretending to be a member of the E Street Band.
