For sure it goes by the way
He's mistaken, the carbon ceramics are $15k, the full model s track package includes the ceramics and is $20k. For the Model 3 the track package is $5500 and available without brakes so I imagine the plaid will follow with a standalone option soon.

EDIT: Just listened again, he said $14 thousand euro, not 40. And Misha says "That's actually very affordable".

Well, it already has the game controller style steering wheel so might as well play real computer games with it...

Tesla’s China-Made EV Sales in July Surge 128% Year-Over-Year
Tesla’s sales of China-made electric vehicles (EVs) experienced a significant 128% year-over-year increase in July, even as the company faced a month-on-month drop of 31%, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
https://teslanorth.com/2023/08/03/te...sales-july-up/

I can't think of a more deserving country to go electric. Chairman Xi Jinping better get busy building those coal power plants to power all those Tesla's.

The coal part is definitely ironic. I think they are just subsidizing their own market for EVs so that their industry will improve. They have a good chance of competing for sales all over the world in the EV space.

Depends on how much coal, nat. gas, nuke, or hydro is mixed to charge the battery.

Doesn’t take much to sue these days but the range claim surprised me.

“Three Tesla owners have proposed a class action lawsuit in the US alleging that their cars failed to achieve their advertised ranges and that the company had failed to address complaints.

James Porter, one of the plaintiffs who owns a Model Y, said that on one trip he “lost approximately 182 miles of range – despite only driving 92 miles”.

The lawsuit alleges that Tesla breached vehicle warranties and engaged in fraud and unfair competition.

It states: “Had Tesla honestly advertised its electric vehicle ranges, consumers either would not have purchased Tesla model vehicles, or else would have paid substantially less for them.”

The complaints highlight the growing phenomenon of range anxiety, where electric vehicle owners fear their battery will not have enough charge to make it to their destination, leaving them stranded.

The fear is particularly acute in places where electric car charging points are few and far between, and is considered a barrier to faster uptake of the new technology.“

I heard that Musk has to take that lighted up 'X' from his SF hq's after a lot of complaints from flat dwellers opposite the building.

A point of interest is that the i8 has been discontinued by BMW. A 3 cylinder turbo with electric motor, so a part EV that never really caught on, the main bugbear being the crippling depreciation from new.
Here's the gen on it.

I would not be to quick to stick a fork in small displacement turbo's remember just about every form of auto sport we watch uses that technology. I agree BMW did a horrific job with the i8. I give then a B for effort and a D- for execution.
