Booked in for 2 weeks time.
Told it was not a recall as not a safety issue so they would have done it next time I was in.

I'm pulling off my engine cover to determine if just one or both of the TSB (recalls) need to be completed. My VIN says I need the "temperature mats" installed-at a minimum... Man I hate taking it to the dealer... I do have my own tech that I use, so I'll need to schedule it when he can do it. It is Hell being OCPD...

I apologize for the following mini-rant:
I go to the dealer here in Houston yesterday, recall document in my hand, to schedule this remedy/repair. I have a dedicated tech that I use if I must have work done at the dealer. I get it scheduled for next Thursday morning @ 7a.m. I told them I plan to wait, as this is less than a 30 minute repair. As I'm driving to work it dawns on me to insure that they have the little "insulation blankets" in stock. I call the parts department, and they say that they do not carry these in inventory (after looking up the part number I furnished). I had them order the blankets right then. Had I not ordered these little insulation blankets, what would have happened next Thursday? My bet is that the tech would take the car back, look at the parts required, realize they don't have them, then the service advisor would come tell me that they need to order the parts and they need to keep the car OR I could take my car and reschedule when the parts are in stock. Anyone want to challenge this assumption? My contention is that I should not have had to do what I did to check the parts inventory, but know how this kind of thing works... What happens when the average "golfer guy" goes in and says I have a recall letter? What happens is everything I just detailed, yet they don't have the part ready... Just sayin'... |

It appears this HAS NOT hit the USA market yet.

My car was at the dealer earlier this week. The recall came up, but they didn't have the parts available. Unfortunately I'll have to make another trip back there.

MY 2013. Called dealer and they confirmed issue. I asked if they had the necessary parts - still waiting for return call from dealership to see If they have the parts.

Was at dealership yesterday for typical service appointment (rear pads, brake fluid replacement, oil, etc) and this was on the worksheet. I was advised when I picked up the car that the "campaign had not started yet" but they would let me know as soon as they could do it. I'm not sure if that is the parts campaign or the work campaign and didn't ask since there was good information on this site about the relatively minor issue.
Seems to be a lot of inconsistent experience on this one. To GarbageMan: I've had that experience but mine was with spark plugs for the M5. |
