I've had this same problem for the past month now. It has come to the point that this problem occurs every time I drive now. Now I'm forced to drive on auto Did any of you have this problem become as frequent? At first I thought it must be a software problem but now that it has become so frequent, I'm starting to think it might be something more serious

May I also point out to some previous posters that despite the car having two clutches, it does not always have the correct gear ready. If you are in 5th gear, the other clutch has 6th or 4th, if the clutch has 6th but you shift to 4th there will be a delay while it selects 4th. So, some delay would sometimes be normal but not every shift. |

Sorry to revive a old thread. But I recently noticed a issue on my 13 with 40k. Just a bit of background...I'm a mechanic and have been building BMWs for well over 20 years, but no means a expert on transmissions...I'll leave that to the specialists. But I just did a DCT service with everything from suction filter, and pressure filter...to using ISTA to do the oil balancing. I only really did this because I noticed a bit of weirdness upon take off and reversing, felt as though the DCT had low oil. So I just did the complete service. Although it feels better all around...I feel a slight delay on downshifting. I blip a downshift, the engine rev matches immediately, but the car itself feels like it doesn't catch the gear and slow down as fast as the engine feels the gear. Does that make sense? Could it be the clutches in my rear end? There is no slop in the driveline(I couldn't feel any sort of slop in the driveshaft). I hope somebody can chime in with some info. Thanks
Edit: I do the rear diff oil chamge every 2nd engine oil change. Also everything looked good on the Blackstone oil analysis. |

It's unlikely that the double clutches are worn so I'd just give it more time to 'get used' to the new trans fluid. |

Yea I'm pretty OCD about oil changes. I've had diffs seize up on me in the past, so I get pretty anal about it. And no oil is "for life". That's for people buying BMWs and having warranty or turning them in after the lease. For us lifers, changing every fluid in the car is a necessity for long-term use. I'll keep digging around.

I dont own a F10 yet but I still have my e92 M3. Lot of tuners out there offer a DCT GTS tune and that made a night and day difference in my M3 no more delays that it used to randomly have. Might be worth looking into an aftermarket DCT tune. Doesn't cost much and should improve timing. After quickly going over this thread it seems to be software related. |
