At first it sounded like a normal car but if you pay a little more attention it sounded very mean and dangerous.

I think this is at the dealer where I bought my M3. It's in Stockholm, Sweden

Other than when the car is idling, it sounds like shit in this video.
It's not sound, its just NOISE, popping, and some more noise. I guess people that like anything that's loud, also like this.

Why are they doing this inside the dealership again???
I still can't get used to the farting sound. It would be the first thing on a turners list

this isn't really that representative - in the flesh it sounds awesome, it goes straight through. Lisnteing to videos gives you an idea but it's a bit like the saturation in photos when deciding on a colour; it gives you an idea but if the detail is really important to you there is no substitute to seeing / hearing it in the flesh. in mho it is makes a great noise.

I think the turbochargers muffle the V8 sound a bit on the new M5. I've listened to a couple of other videos and it sounds a bit muted. Compare to a C63 AMG for example.
Of course no comparison to the V10 M5!! |

Re the F10 (I'm inclined to agree with Phish 100 re the exhaust, it is different to E60 but still a great noise) apart from that all aspects are not only superior to the E60 but walk all over it so I'm not hesitating to upgrade. Guess you won't be (:

Agree 100%. I always said it sounds like an STi with an exhaust. Sure it performs and looks good, but sound is a joke. Other than performance, all else is an opinion though so we can't really argue about that.

Wow. Other than the "bang" noise, this F10 M5 sounds eerily similar to my 335is w/ golf tee mod on cold start up... which is to say it sounds pretty good, but not as impressive sounding compared to an E60 M5 or E90/92 M3.

90% of people online write how better the sound is coming out from the V10 M5. Is this because they hating that a never version of their car came out, or the sound from F10 M5 is really that bad? Maybe they'll do something about it until the release in the US. I watched a few videos where the car was clearly "farting". Not the best sound I want to hear coming out of the new M5
I think to get the idea of how loud the car can be, it is better to do the test outside. Most cars would sound loud inside the building.
