Best bet would be to ditch the Dodson kit and get a kit from SSP. |

Having seen both in person what I can see is that Dodson requires you to measure the stack height play. SSP has predetermined stack height so their is no room for human error there. Also, the clutch material is different. One last thing which I think is the most important is that on the SSP the thickest outer top and bottom disc are metal on one side and disc material on the other just like factory. It's not like this on the Dodson. When the time comes I'll be ordering SSP!

SSP clutches run and drive like stock. There are several vendors here in the states that push the Dodxox clutch assemblies.
This is what they tell there customers after a Dodxox cluth install... "Your car will adapt itself" "Clunking is normal shifting between gears" "Just drive your car for awhile the clutch will smooth out" "After 20+ attempts the relearn continuously fails" Does any of this sound correct.... |

The truth is guys an aftermarket clutch needs to adapt on the very first attempt. If it doesnt there is something wrong. Dont drive your car after a new clutch install if the adaptation procedure fails. You will end up wrecking the clutch within a hundred miles or less..FYI

SSPKris are you guys going to offer different stage trans upgrade kits?
All I see on your site is 2 different clutch and basket kits, along with improved filter, and fluid. The upgraded cooling kit looks like a very nice upgrade!! Would be nice to see upgrades from mild to wild!!

I have over 6,000 miles on the SSP Clutch including the cooling upgrade kit. It is legit. Smoothest shifts and it felt like the transmission was brand new. No complications whatsoever. I'm not trying to bad mouth a product but don't get the Dodson, it is clearly inferior.

The adaptation procedure is the most important step when installing a clutch in the BMW. This procedure is done with the BMW scan tool. There are also aftermarket scanners that will do this procedure. There are certain steps during the adaptation procedure that must be followed in order. SSP supplies the correct instructions with every new clutch. Last edited by SSPKris; 09-03-2016 at 07:19 AM.. |

But I'll be anxious to see the results competition is really good, and even though some companies practices in the GTR world of copying parts are in a moral gray zone, god knows where we'd be on price of parts without great competition. |

2007-2016 BMW DCT Clutch Relearn Procedure
Clutch install complete/ fluid filled to capacity 1) Transmission will need to be brought up to 80C temperature before any relearning can start. -Raise car on a hoist, and run thru each gear for at least 10 seconds (reverse also). This procedure will make sure that the work has been done correctly, while bleeding all the air from the valve body assembly. 2) Touch point learning procedure -E brake up (locked position) -Car in Neutral -Brake pedal needs to be held thru the entire procedure. -The RPM will “drop down” as the procedure progresses -After procedure is finished, make sure the car is in “Neutral” position, shut the ignition off. -“Procedure is successful” 3) Gear Learn Procedure -E brake up (locked position) -Car in Neutral -Brake pedal needs to be held thru the entire procedure. -3 different levels of shifting will occur with this procedure -After procedure is finished, make sure the car is in “Neutral” position, shut the ignition off. -“Procedure is successful” 4) Torque Curve Reset -E brake up (locked position) -Car in Neutral -Hold Brake Pedal Down -Ignition on, but engine off during this procedure -After procedure is finished, make sure the car is in “Neutral” position, shut the ignition off. -“Procedure is successful” 5) Valve body Relearn Procedure --E brake up (locked position) -Car in Neutral -Engine running HOLD ACCELERATOR AT 2000 RPM WHILE HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL -DO THIS PROCEDURE FOR 2 MINUTES -After procedure is finished, make sure the car is in “Neutral” position, shut the ignition off. -“Procedure is successful” PV1/PV2 RELEARN SUCCESSFUL The NEW clutch will need to properly be broken in for 500km of normal driving conditions. Absolutely DO NOT break the clutch in on a wheel dyno. Premature wear or clutch burning will occur. There is not warranty for this. Do not do any wide open throttle pulls. The clutch needs to be shifting frequently for proper break in of the clutch plates. After the 500km break in: For best clutch performance and longevity, do the following procedures: -On “M” Series cars make sure the clutch clamping force is turned all the way up, and traction control is OFF. This will allow you go gain 6 complete bars of pressure for proper clutch break in. On Non “M” Series cars make sure the car is in SPORT MODE for proper clutch break in. -Relearn the clutch touch points -Relearn the gear box at this time. |

I haven't driven it much because it never learned in properly. Pretty much given up on it working properly.
