I wanted to resurrect this thread to ask another question to the 601 owners.
Do you think the fact that 601s are cast is a problem in terms of structural stability? For a wheel that is of this size and weight (and I guess you can also say the car being 4300 lbs does not help the matters), are you concerned that they may crack easily (or easier than the 343Ms)? I was doing some research on this can came across this thread where one of the owners said that his wheels cracked after only 200 miles. Now notice the cracks are rather small and many people may have ignored them easily : http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=744322 Does anyone else have such cracks in your wheels? I will drive this car in NJ and with the potholes here, I don't want my wheels to crack easily. Another question I have is, since these wheels are a bit wider, would you run 275/305s instead of 265/295s on them? This was the same story with CP in the M3 and many people run wider tires with CP wheels since they are wider. And also from a style perspective, I think both wheels look good, the 601s have a more standard sports car look whereas 343Ms are more artistic and stylish. The black 343Ms on AW looks killer though and contrasts so well with the blue brakes. |

wow great find on the cracks... hadn't seen that. I really like the look of the 601s, but the fact that they are not forged is really my one big disappointment with the car. If you are going with the CP, the ride will be firmer than the base model. It was no big deal on the autobahn, but definitely feels rougher on some of the crappy Texas roads (not so many potholes, per se, but most road surfaces are worn out 'chip and seal'). As I am configuring my next M5, I am strongly leaning against the 601s, or more likely, going to purchase some nice forged aftermarkets.

Hi,
Does anyone have pictures of matte black powder coated 601's? I have a frozen white m5 with 601s and I'm thinking of powder coating them matte black. Thanks. |

I just took off my HREs and put the 601s on with my winter rubber. I actually forgot how much I like the 601s on the car.
