find it incredible that they fixed the oil pump but didn't upgrade the software to deal with this issue!? what are BMW thinking? (yes profit profit profit but its a shirt sighted strategy)

Have same issues with my 550GT. it starts and drives normally but when I try to accelerate fast it gives the message maximum drivetrain not available. Thereafter d drive becomes more sluggish and sometimes the car shakes slightly.

Any updates? My car has been doing this when pushing it to the limits at higher speeds, mainly when I hit the rev limiter in gear 4 to 5 it goes into limp mode and give me the drivetrain error , any idea what's wrong? Spark plugs have been replaced not to long ago. |

Just got this error today. '16 and 52k miles (manual F10) and never had an issue since I bought it last year. Need to get it serviced so will see what dealer says. Didn't happen after I got back in my car later in the day.

This warning can be a whole range of things. For me it was a coil gone bad.

Not sure if you'll see it through OBD2 if error isn't currently coming up. Maybe. You probably will see something, though, if you go into the secret menu and look at the errors option, or whatever it's called. That shows a history but they will be BMW specific, not OBD2. What it shows may or may not be helpful but it only takes ~1 minute to check.

Need a new high pressure pump. Just got the BMW tech's walkthrough on the car. He mentioned it is covered under CPO warranty.

I wish that you problem be something simple and is easily rectified.
I recently posted a thread about my car developing a knock (bottom end bearings gone) I went for an overtake and put my foot down. High revs i got a really bad shake/ vibration and the drivetrain error popped up. It told me full power was not available so i drove home slowly on the highway to get back home but the car died on me. Do you have a diagnostics tool tool you could plug in to show up any potential errors? |

OBDII tool I use is Carista ($40/yr fee) didn't get me what I needed. Those with better knowledge than me may be able to comment if BMW codes can be obtained with a different tool. |
