Yeah that picture is sexy. Not gonna lie.

I know I keep staring at it lol. My problem is I really need a sedan for work to haul around clients occasionally but that's what the extra 50k would be for!!

Yeah just get a base 528i to complement the Vette. Problem solved.

My warranty is going to run out on my M5 in less than 6 months from now (high mileage) and I'm still leaning towards spending thousands on an extended warranty, but I am considering other options as well. The new Z06 is on my list. I thought very hard about the new Alfa Romeo 4C, but after watching Chris Harris compare it to a Base Cayman, I decided against it. The M5 is awesome but even in stock form it is still just too fast for the street but still too heavy for the track. At least with the new Z06 and it's 8spd Auto transmission, it'll definitely be too fast for the street, but can be daily driveable and then kick everything's ass at the track. I hate the fact that the East Coast has no mountains and it kills me sometimes. It's forcing me to start thinking about tracking more. I love driving but I do love the F10 M5. There's simply not enough road on the East Coast for an F10 M5. Or I would need a Nurburgring to enjoy the M5 for what it's capable of and that doesn't exist on U.S. soil. 1st World Problems. Lol!
I am the same way but after driving the regular C7 this may be the first car i'll buy without driving. I agree on all of your sentiments. Both cars are way too fast for the streets. At least we have some pretty good driving roads about an hour away. I may have to buy a membership with AMP (Atlanta Motorsports park) to really enjoy this car.

So it looks like the new Z06 interior quality will be much nicer than a base C7.

Looks pretty impressive with the cross stitched leather but the faux carbon fiber trim looks cheap still.

It's actually real carbon fiber. I looked into it already. It's a $995 option.

The Z06 is a compelling car but different than a M5. Would make a great stablemate!

You know how much I love my ///M5. And you all know that if I wouldn't have young kids and other social restraints, I would drive the Singapore Bird and a 997 GT3 RS and would have a 991 RS on pre-order ;-)

Well, whenever travels get me to LAX, my friends at Hertz usually put me in the very familiar F10 M5 environment. I love the home away from home feeling but since a meet with the CA ///M5 army never worked out, this time, I thought: why not try something different. So I made a reservation for the Hertz Penske GT, which supposedly mixes the best of the Boss302 with the Shelby GT500 and features somewhere around 600hp. Well, the one unit they had at the station had issues and no ///M5s or 911s in sight. The Lambos and Californias always have completely ridiculous price tags so I was rather disappointed. They ended up offering me a 2015 Hertz Stingray - that really bummed me out but I had no choice.

Well, here's the news: Either I am getting really old or I was always mistaken. I really really liked the car. Once you get used to the naturally aspirated V8 and less lower rev torque, this vehicle was surprisingly fast. And the handling was absolutely spectacular. At first the adaptive dual clutch transmission felt entirely out of place and slow until I realized, well, that it adapts and that under full throttle at 6200 rpm from 2nd to 3rd, it is lighting fast. If you cruise along at 40mph and shift from 3rd to 4th senior citizen style it takes about as long to shift as a 1996 Buik Park Avenue. And that sound! That sound!! I ended up downshifting to 1st gear (yes, you read right) every time I approached a stop or red light because I couldn't get enough of that wonderful exhaust burble.

Another surprise was the many positive comments. I rarely receive any remarks on the ///M5 unless it's a BMW enthusiast. I expected despicable remarks on the Corvette at best in Veyron spoiled Beverly Hills. But during my 24 hours there, I had multiple people approach me with questions and admiration (and turn around as quickly when I mentioned that it was a rental ;-)

Sorry for the lengthy and not very on point post but I just wanted to share my surprise. I will take Corvettes a lot more serious from now on.

#H

I have only heard great reviews from friends that have driven the Stingray... I really like the look of the car on the street; it catches my eye every time.

I noticed you said "adaptive dual clutch", did GM finally incorporate this into the 2015 as I have only heard of their 8 speed tq converter slush box auto which apparently shifts quite fast??

Never to old for a vette (I'm 38). I got my 1st vette (62 still have it) in my late 20's. My 2nd vette ('09 Z06 - sold it last yr) I got when I was 33. After seeing the new Z06 and the kind of power its producing, I may have to get one.

3LZ with CF aero and Z07 is right at $100k. Not bad at all.

Not to mention all that the Z07 Package comes with. Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Tires, and more dynamic Adjustable Aero all for less than the msrp of just CCB's on an F10 M5! It's the bargain of the century!

I am thinking either white or yellow myself. I want to wait at least until press reviews are in, even though they don't really matter (maybe they do?)
