It's 4mph faster than an M5 in the 1/4 which is to almost 130mph.... That is a substantial margin. No doubt due to the cts weighing less and having more power....

These cars both use forced induction v8s so displacement is not the main deciding factor as much as is boost and efficiency of motor. Will let u guess which one is more efficient: Hint- it starts with an 'M'

Looks like there is a big traction issue with this car!

That m6 gc dct above was running the press tune, 620hp+

Most m5 dcts including mine, the car and driver one, and the one in this test trap ~121-122mph with no massaging.

BMW has sent many press tune cars out, they run higher boost and/or more timing in the Ecu... The m6 weighs 150lbs more than the m5 and is faster with same dct, I don't think so

This is beyond the realm of this discussion but u can check here and many other places about the press tune

Not sure if Vic55 has any comment on his press tune car from BMW, but M6 GC does not weigh 150 lb more than M5... BMWNA says 43 lb (4430 vs 4387) heavier while BMW.com says even 20kg (44lb) lighter than M5 !!!
IMO the reason M6 GC is faster than M5 at higher speed in long distance races (i.e. 1/4 mile) is the better drag coefficient factor (Cd) due to the better aerodynamic body style... Drag force is a big factor at higher velocities you can read about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_(physics)

The Cd for both are .33. The m6 gc is longer and wider than an M5.

The test from the OP was a comparison using same conditions and the m5 was 4mph slower In the 1/4, the cts was considerably faster and it all makes sense cause it has more power and less weight. Peace

The CTS was the slowest from 250 to 300km in the group (M6, RS7 performance, CLS63 S), took almost 10 seconds, while the other three turbo cars took around 5 sec.

Seems like the supercharger losses steam at the top end, hard to believe gearing would make that much difference.
I believe we had the similar discussion on the other side of this forum (6post).
The new 600ps M6 is reported 18.8 second (0-250 km/h); however the previous 575ps M6 is reported 17.4 second by the same magazine (AutoBild) ... different day, different condition, different drivers... not relevant IMO...
To be honest with you I can't rely on this report of 600 ps... How is it possible that 575ps M6 can go 0-300 km/h in 30 second and 600ps M6 can go in 35 second? 5 seconds is a lot. Just as a simple calculation at 300 km/h speed in 5 second car can course ~400 meter (1/4 mile)

M6 vs GTR vs 911 vs R8
http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=911274
Yeah but so far only the M5/6 shows this much variance, which is concerning. RS7 performance model tested by different magazines/conditions/drivers are all faster than standard RS7.

But does adjust for conditions... C&D has more favorable numbers than the other mags (almost always) especially in trap speeds.

As for my press tune on the M6-- the car "felt" faster (than the car did stock) but how much quantifiable gains did I get in hp and tq? No idea as it was done for free via a BMW contact/tuner and I just said why the fuck not

Mine's best is 11.466 which gives 11.5 (rounded) as well.
(also stock m6 cp, OEM tires, and regular highway, no LC was used..)
