I mean, is that what we're calling "really lightweight"? I see plenty of people rolling their eyes at the concept of a 3,600 lb. car, much less a sports car. Guess I wouldn't have considered 3,600 lb. to fall into the "really lightweight" category for a sports car being discussed on the Internet – people lost their fucking minds when the Z4 weighed in a 3,500, so... IDK.

Yeah, 3,600 lbs is definitely lightweight by modern standards with their safety features for non-super cars. Even some major electrified hyper cars weigh more those days

Yes, by modern standards. I guess I assumed that you were wanting something like the old days – 99.9% of the people who complain about vehicle weight seem to be of that mind. Sorry if I misinterpreted your meaning.

Agreed, people need to get real. The only brand I can think of that actually reduced weight of current models vs. prior generation was...... Tesla (believe it or not )

Yeah, but they did it by leaving out the fasteners for body panels.

I'll give it to you on the E-Ray only because it's priced so low for what you get, but that's been the "Corvette thing" forever. Also racing heritage? Maybe for the Stingray and Z06, but the E-Ray as a Corvette model holds no heritage at all.
The C8 is bespoke from the ground up too. So is the GR86. So are lots of brand new cars. That doesn't impress me to $200k, much less $500k. And while E-Ray has no heritage (because it's a new trim), Corvette is in the discussion of most successful racing cars of all time.

The big problem with this car is it feels more like a Supra replacement than an LFA replacement.

Yeah, my brother has a new Model Y and while I still don't like it, the interior is nicer than previous models I've seen. There are still weird panel gaps, but I don't think most people are terribly attuned to that anyway, and I wouldn't ever expect it to get to BMW-levels.

It isn't though. It doesn't have a multimatic race suspension. It doesn't have wild ass active aero, it isn't almost all carbon fiber, it isn't a legitimate race car masquerading as a street car. It's a very fast sports car, like a Corvette or GT500 Mustang. That's why it should be $70-90k.

You don't know anything about it or its driving dynamics and you "feel" like it's a Supra replacement?? Okay...let's just wait and see the price and the performance. No point in all this speculation without knowing anything. Maybe it'll be under $100k and all will line up in your world.

That's valid. It could be $500k.or.it could be $90k. It looks awesome, and what was described was some.pretty nice hardware. Of it isn't a Supra successor, hopefully some.of the cool.stuff trickles down, like the V8 and the trans axle setup. It sure looks killer, that's for sure.

Corvette racing as a team won their class in Le Mans 9 times between 1999 and 2023. That's a little less than half the years they entered. Not to mention more woman at petit le.mans, Rolex 24 at Daytona, Sebring 12 hours... You have to have room temp IQ to not see them as being in the conversation, though I could see arguments for them maybe not being the #1

Just based only the styling execution alone, I find it very appealing and muscle car-esque as opposed to the overly wrought so commonly found on production cars today. Edges, creases, seams all seem to serve at least a minimally functional purpose, harmoniously flowing and not sending the eye off in different directions.

This is not accurate, assuming you are talking about the m3, which is around 175-200 pounds heavier in the e90/92 trim vs e46.

Correct, he is also wrong about non-M models, for example E90 I6 were 130-150 lbs heavier compared E46 I6 models.
