Dang I thought I was going to get the new one but after seeing that rendering it might be better for me to stay with my current version

Ohhh maaann. I dunno about this look. Looks like a Scion or something. Ughhh. The
3 series render looks decent but man I dunno about this. I think the current 4 series looks way better than this! Cmon!! Ughhhhh

I’ve been out of the loop a bit but with it having a ‘tweaked’ S58 engine, this sounds like a half-hearted effort (if they’re not developing a new engine)? Are they doing an ICE variant just to shut people up, and the real effort is going into the EV? That’s what it feels like to me, given all the press/videos/leaks have been around the EV. Maybe I’m missing something?

Either way, the suggestion that the 4 Series will follow its sibling onto the Neue Klasse architecture implies that it will likewise continue to offer a spread of pure-electric and combustion powertrains, with the next-generation 'i4' twinned with the upcoming i3 underneath
I'm not convinced they got that right, I think the BMW guy mentioned several different things (4er, possible (i)M4, Euro7 ICE engines) - those are all but confirmed, just not in that combination. They might have read too much between the lines.

So far, I have seen zero reports (apart from this one) that NK cars would be ICE dual-use. It is well known that the 3er will have a CLAR-based ICE variant, and if anything, that would also be the case for the 4er, not a NK ICE car.

Let’s stay on topic. This isn’t a “Show me your ride” post, is it?

The 4 Series was supposed to be discontinued without a successor. But if they are going to make a new generation of the 4 Series, which is to be both a combustion engine version and an electric version, it means that it will have terrible proportions like every electric car. Tall and narrow with large windows. Completely unsuitable for the style of a coupe.

As for the development of catalytic converters for the EURO7 standard, which are capable of offering a V12 engine for Royce Rolls models, this may mean that BMW will withdraw the S68 plug-in hybrid in the 3-ton M5 G90.

This is my understanding too. Also, what do we make of the news that BMW was pushing 4 series production and M4 production to 2029 because the G82 was going to be the last M4? Of course, there is always the possibility that BMW is rethinking their plans to kill the 4 because they realize there is demand for coupes.

Hopefully the 4 convertible doesn’t die due to the EV transition.

Agree, I think the big takeaway is that bmw might do an ice 4 series on the ice 3 series platform. Combine with the extension of the existing 4 it makes a lot of sense. We always knew an ev 4 was coming on the new classe platform. But and as bmw was quoted it is relatively low effort to produce the coupe.

Guys chill, this render shows literally nothing. There has not been a single prototype on the road, that could lead to any design assumptions. this render is a complete fantasy.

for the ppl wondering, the i4 chassis code will be NA2 and ZA2 for the M4.

The S58 will be hybridized and will get a tech-update. There is no need to develop a completely new engine, that does the same.

But yeah, the main effort goes into the development of the Neue Klasse cars. That's no news. Also, the ICE M3 will come over a year later than the EV, so it is just not the time yet to hype up the G80 successor.

I think you're referring to the i4 Series Gran Coupé. There are no plans for a Coupé.

No, there are no mentions of the NA2 i4 being a gran coupe. There are indeed plans for the i4 being a coupe just like the G22 is.

It would be the most useless car in the entire portfolio. A coupe that has few buyers, and an electric one at that Time will tell.
