I don't use valet. I've had valet ruin a few of my cars. The main reason being that mine is 6MT. I will pay up to $50 extra to leave it right up front, if that isn't an option I look for a garage.

Nope because I have had items taken from my car years ago. I pay extra to park up front, and my cars have no dings are scratches. Also no car washes only me!

I do. They always, always, put it up front. Not sure why, never ask for it. People seem to dig it, never happened before this car. That and I always eat early so it's probably the first nice car there.

Valet in France curbed my wheel during my ED. I would normally get pretty upset, but at that point I thought about it twice and did not want to ruin my ED experience so I moved. The wheel got fixed for redelivery.
In the US I try not to valet the car. Had couple bad experiences.

I wouldn't trust a valet to park a manual, so I won't trust them to park a DCT.
I am/was generally comfortable with our QX56 or my previous M45 that have/had a non-complex automatic. On the QX56 (SUV) side, if the SUV doesn't have a backup camera or good sight-lines, then definitely would not let a valet park it. I've seen too many concrete column collisions with rear taillights where the valet tries to park an SUV in a tight spot in reverse and bites it. |

Sometimes you have no choice and in those situations I ask them to put it "up front" with other nicer cars and I watch them like a hawk when they do it. Then I have to remind myself it's just a car.

Not a chance!
And it doesn't matter if they park more expensive cars (the argument they love to present), they'll still manage to screw up. Then there will none to take responsibility. |

No!
No chance in hell. I always tip them and keep the key after I park it myself. The ritz Carlton and other hotels require you let them have the key but their insurance should cover it

No way!!! can't take a chance of my car being road tested while I'm dining! Always leave a tip for them to keep a watch on the car, but never leave the keys!
