You're calling your 550i a POS? Why?

Had it on the M5. Wish I had it on the M6. Being a convertible I don't mind as much but I do miss it. Way better then the Bose in my 991.

I had the regular stereo in my previous 550i and upgraded to B&O for my 2014 M5. For me it's a waste of money as - like others have said - the driving experience is much more involving and I don't need the distraction. Frankly I only took the B&O system because my dealer advised it based on eventual resale. Down to individual preference at the end of the day. No rattles so far with mine - that would drive me crazy...

Do you need it? probably not, but you'll be glad you have it if you do and makes the driving on the those long cruises much more enjoyable. I would choose B&O over driver assistant's package

It is definitely overpriced but I got it anyway. I wasn't happy with the sound from the HK during my test drive and wanted something closer to the quality of the Bose system in my 997. The B&O is definitely on par with the Bose - difficult to say which is better. I had the standard system in my 650 and was often disappointed. Once the car is in your garage - you'll likely forget the additional cost but if you don't get it - and you love music - you will have constant reminders of your decision!

I think the B&O completes the cabin in the M5. As far as sound I have no clue, I like music, but just have not heard enough high end systems to tell.
Could someone rank the big boy sound systems?? Off the top of my head, these are the ones I know of. (not in order) 1. B&O 2. Bose 3. Burmester (anyone heard the new S Class one)? 4. H/K 5. Meridian Trifield 3D 1700W, 23 speakers (Rang Rover) 6. Mark Levinson 7. Boston Acoustics Without hearing them in person the Meridian seems high tech. |

The best sound system in the performance car market right now goes to the Burmester 3D system.
I think the B&O in the latest M5 is second. The 2011 AMG also has a very similar/maybe the same B&O, but the M sounds better.. it's probably enhanced in some way.
