Agreed.

When his first hit single dropped, I thought he was a joke.

Then hearing his earlier albums, I can to respect him as a very talented lyricist and I liked his work.

His more recent work is not very appealing, however.

He's tried too hard to mesh with mainstream, which has never been an avenue through which he has been able to effectively express himself.

I greatly enjoyed Relapse, as sick and twisted as it was; it reminded me of the SSLP and MMLP.

Till I Collapse is my personal theme song. That, and Encore/Curtains Down, from... Encore... yeah. And yeah... Relapse was f***ed in the head. Which was part of why it was so great. I think liking Eminem moves you from Verona to Pike Place on the darkness scale though. Or so my light-skinned black friends tell me.

Edit: Rap God is also great, more from a "technical" aspect. Like... how da fuq did he do that?

Wasn't Rap God cool?! A lot of my buddies didn't like it. I was like, dudes, open your minds wtf. Things aren't going to stay the same forever.

At least in my household, sometimes I wish it was.

But based on the typified stereotype of deadbeat black dads, it fits a good majority of the households I've familiarized myself with, growing up.

Plenty of white families too... In al honesty, i think this phenomenon started off more as a socioeconomic one. People in urban poverty often have shitty lives. People in shitty lives often run away. I think the fact that this is a "black stereotype" has more to do with the fact that urban poverty is more common for black families than for white families. Assholery does not discriminate.

Edit: Sorry so srs.
