Dusted off a box that I've been saving for the right moment. Goslings Family Reserve Old Rum, bottle number 3515/22. The right moment is now and is two-fold. The sale of the fixer-upper I bought 18 months back for a tidy profit and the purchase of a fun, new daily, a Golf R Black Edition. I do love my rum and my Golfs.

Curious what you guys would do about this (if anything). I have a relatively new bottle of Remy XO and the cork just completely disintegrated. Lots of little floaters in the bottle. I sent an email to Remy but didn't get any reply. It's a little frustrating.

That’s annoying, but just strain it out, it’ll still be good. Hard to say what happened?

This is not rare, especially for the bottles I've had stowed in the basement for a few years. If it was a new purchase, call the liquor store to get the contact info for your local distributor, and contact them. Laphroaig got me several new bottles when this happened to me (several years ago). You can strain through a fine metal mesh (tea strainers work well).

For the cold weather folks, I have perfected my hot toddy over the years. Recipe below.

1. 1/3c water. Heat in microwave until boiling. About 2.5 min.

2. 1 heaping tablespoon (actual spoon, not a measuring tablespoon) of dark wildflower honey. Mix before adding next ingredients.

3. 3oz of whisky.

4. 1 heaping tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir everything.

5. Heat in microwave for about 60 seconds to reheat.

6. Pour in a tempered mug with a half of cinnamon stick. We use a yeti mug to keep it warm whilst we drink.

Michters Rye Old Fashioned is my go to. Occasionally though I’ll have a Hartford Court or Flowers vineyards chard if my wife uncorks a bottle for dinner.

Had one of these last night. Quite tasty, and a new concoction to me.

My next Blind Barrels offering ships Monday. It's kind of exciting to sip unknown products, totally blind (not from the drinking)

Excellent choice. I’m far from a connoisseur, but I was elated after being recently introduced.

One of my staff left a bottle of Yellow Spot on my desk while I was out. Texted "Thank you for the Yellow brown liquor"

Not sure I remember what I had after sipping it last night. Certainly wasn't harsh, but all the flavor notes on the side of the container weren't evident in my mouth.
