Speaking of lots of production, here's an impressive photo, likely taken within a dirigible/blimp hangar at Lakehurst or Moffet Field, showing Navy/Marine fighters and a few dive bombers staging for further transport to the war zone during World War II. The monthly production figures were staggering and the logistics of getting them forward were formidable.

We no longer have the production capability, labor force nor the will or funding to do something like this.

Looks like Corsairs and Hellcats.

The USA was pretty much sleeping when Pearl Harbor happened. Things ramped up rapidly after that. All it takes is motivation. Pearl Harbor was the motivation.

With out current leaders, there wont be much agreement or motivation sadly.

Besides the will. It takes people who can do basic labor too.... which is sadly lacking in today's world. I work in manufacturing and you'd be shocked at the amount of people you wouldn't trust with a screwdriver. Now add 1000x more complexity...

Unlike 1941, the world today has to consider nukes and the long range missiles that can deliver them.

As to screwdrivers and workers, about the only calluses folks have are on the end of their thumbs.
