I replaced coils on my car
Did same as above couple of plugs not in as i didnt realise the locking tabs lock even if plug isnt inserted all the way Got a heap of errors, unplugged batt and re plugged them in, car ran fan for 5-10km then went into limp mode Trip to dealer and 3 weeks later and about $5000us they replaced 1 dme as the valvetronic output failed in the dme! Apparently happens a bit in older bmws but never heard of it happening on this ecu I dont think it happened from me not plugging it back in as car didnt fire but it concerns me That and the fact my ecus had been in and put a few times for plugs and tunes |

Have anyone replaced with these Bosch spark plugs? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...sch-0242145541
It's $6 vs $27 (BMW Genuine). If it's the same as oem plugs, then it's a no-brainer to get Bosch plugs instead. I'm looking to replace every 15k miles. My M5 is bone stock. Thanks in advance.

Just ordered 8 of those from FCP and some cabin air filters. I don't know the age of my plugs. Are there 1 or 2 spark plugs that can easily be pulled to have a look?

I would assume the plugs closer to the front bumper would be the easiest to access.

I just finished replacing them with $6 Bosch ones. The look is identical to the BMW M plugs. Part # is almost the same except missing a M.
I disconnected the battery and the connections to the dme units. Make sure the connections are fully seated properly on the dme units or else you'll get like 100 errors like I did. Haha. The car wouldn't even start. The car fired up without issues once i seated the connections properly. The old plugs had 17k miles. Here are a few pics.

If i'm running BMS intakes and BMS stage 1 piggy back tune. I'm going to buy the 1 step colder NGK plugs (https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...plug-set-of-8/) do you think i need to gap them or can install the plugs as is? The tune and intakes probably adds another 30 hp, nothing crazy.

I installed the ZR5TPP330A bosch plugs. They are fine. They supersede the original plugs. Cheaper too.
I did not unplug the DME connectors and I removed the brace instead. So its possible that way if you dont want to mess with the connectors. Not necessarily easier in retrospect, but you dont have to worry about reconnecting it correctly. Only problem I had with the install was my lower back. |

Some of you seem to be replacing your plugs too often,I'm on 37k and still on my original ones, the car not missing a beat. Anyone tell me why you think you should change them so often like every 15-20k,its not that easy a job and I'll try to do mine at 40k with the coils still attached as someone else did.

I guess if you drive your M hard a lot they should be changed more frequently and of course if you have a tune.Changed the plugs in our CLK komp at 50k miles for the first time and saw no reason to change earlier. |

Thank you for the day. A very easy job but urge anyone doing it to be mindful of the dme plugs, we didn't have any issues but I could see how the connections could be a pain going back in. The job took about an hour total. I used 2 step colder ngk plugs at .024 gap and Bosch coils.
