Just started getting this whine on my 2013 at 69900 miles. Matches RPM . Noise is definetly from under the hood in the engine bay, :-(

I will post back if it does, sure sounds like that's what it is. Yes, that is the same part number on mines. I am very curious to find out how long these tensioners should last, I couldn't imagine the spring going bad that soon given how beefy it is, and it does seem like the pulley itself can be replaced. The pulley/bearing part # is also stamped on it, but a search turned up nothing. It is an INA pulley/bearing.

I am pretty sure that is it. I was going in for an oil change and coolant flush so I am having it taken care of then.

Just to post back on this. I finally got around to tackling this over the weekend. Mines did end up being the belts/tensioner. Anyone know how to verify date stamps on the tensioner? My stretch belt for the AC compressor definitely has 2013 stamped on it, so i believe its OEM. I believe the tensioner is probably OEM as well.

Mine whines louder than a nagging wife 🤣 even when warmed up which I find strange... I've learned to tune it out / accept that its probably normal. Haven't had the time to actually dissect as to where it is coming from as I rarely drive the car.

I will be doing my belts and ordered a tensioner as well for preventative maintenance. Did you have to remove the radiator to get sufficient access to the belts/pulleys/tensioner?

The ac belt tensioner/removal was unlike anything I have seen. Take 4 bolts out of the main pulley with the arrow on the main pulley facing right, rotate main pulley to make the arrow face left, remove belt. Pretty wild. Edit: I also took the plastic and metal belly pans off for the ac belt. Last edited by autoxautox; 04-01-2023 at 09:18 AM.. |

Thanks for the info. Good to hear it is possible to do the belts without removing the radiator. I bought a stretch belt removal tool which kind of clips onto the pulley and is supposed to slide that AC belt out (as you manually rotate the crankshaft) given that belt has no adjustment/tensioner and is supposed to "slip and stretch" on.
That’s the thing, it does have a tensioner, it is the main pulley. It has a u shaped middle so that when the arrow is facing the ac it lets the tension off and the belt comes right off. Then as you turn the crank back so the arrow faces away it tensions it back up, then you put the four bolts back on. It’s a pretty smart design. I found pics at the very end of this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mNb6xTwKYHw Last edited by autoxautox; 04-03-2023 at 08:48 PM.. |
