OP, great story and photos, and a gorgeous M5. I recognized the first shot of your M5 from the photography section, and it just now hit me that it is San Marino Blue.
Looks amazing. I have an MCB X6M, it was (and still is every day) a dream car in a dream color for me. Love the M6's but having seen quite a few in person around my area in SMB, I agree with others that it doesn't quite suit the M6. It looks awesome on your M5, though. Man, if I keep hanging around these M5 parts of Bimmerpost, I might end up with an M5 as my next car ( But I will never give up my X6M, she is a true keeper! ) Btw, my BMW story is similar to some of the posters and the OP - fell in love with the E36 3 series (actually liked the sedan better than coupe) and M3, the E39 5 series and M5, and the E46 coupe (never liked the 4 door) and E46 M3 ... However if I had to point to one BMW that lured me in hook, line, and sinker, it was the 850Ci. My heart skips a beat even today if/when I see even pictures of one. They are rare on the road now, but so timeless and beautiful. |

You should all keep an eye on Ran When Parked's stuff elsewhere on the internet, on his website of the same name. He's clearly a great photographer and a nice chap.

Pics wow wow !!! the new Blue San Marino , I can say is amazing!
Oh God, it's so special with his unique tone, surprisingly, are going to do with so many colors great corners like Montego, Interlagos and little Le Mans. In the shadows seems more purple. The sun is more medium blue. It is definitely the replacement Interlagos Blue. We should make a new survey of the better blue this year!! |

Hey Cheese! I think I saw you on I-5 south this last weekend between Seattle and Federal Way. I was in the white E90 M3. I saw a blue M5 in a not so typical blue and my first thought was that color is AMAZING. If that was you, you had a full car and almost got nailed by a dumbass in an Acura RDX.

That was me! I spotted you moving through the traffic and making progress in the way I like doing so, and let you show me the gaps, until one closed on me. Your M3 looks awesome in the sunlight!

Right on! I seriously freaked when I saw that Acura slam it's brakes and try to make the exit, cutting you off. NOT THE PRETTY M5 YOU IDIOT!! I'm glad you were paying attention because that was one ugly move. Since you seem to be in for the nice road trips with pretty scenery, you should check out a drive I'm organizing to Mt. Baker August 4th. I'll PM you.

My front-seat passenger (who pointed you out to me, initially) was just telling the back seat passengers who undramatic hard braking in the car was, when that happened.

I'm reading through this thread and can't help but notice the maturity of the posts... Not to bash E90Post, but it sure is refreshing compared to most of the recent threads there. Congrats on your awesome ride!

That color looks fantastic on the F10 M5. Like you, I'm still a big fan of the E39 M5 and contemplate picking one up eventually.
