Could you translate what he says right after he's been handcuffed? "I'm going to sit five years for a banger, I'm going to sit down for that banger, your trippin?"

Why does he keep repeating that or is he just insane?
Case in point regarding my post above. The informant’s stated the suspect had a gun. These cops let him sit on that bike, didn’t detain and didn’t do a pat-down search right away. They do things “differently”……but that was a major officer safety issue…..and then we see what happened. Cringe!

figured I would tell this WTF story...

Buddy of mine isn't always the brightest when it comes to his pistol.

Couple years ago he had an incident where a road rage driver chased him into a parking lot, and when my buddy got out of his vehicle his pistol fell out of his lap and onto the ground. Road rage driver called the cops. Nothing really happened other than my buddy lost his pistol for a few days.

This winter he was shoveling his driveway and for whatever reason set his pistol on the hood of his car, nosey neighbor called the police, police show up and find out his permit to carry had expired by a month. Whoops. Ends up becoming a thing that he has to go to court over, county assigns him an attorney, said attorney tells my buddy when a court date is set they will notify him.

Fast forward to last weekend, six officers show up at his door with an arrest warrant for missing his court date. Attorney never notified him, never received mail or notification from the county, no one can even get a hold of his attorney to verify, shes just gone.

Now the WTF moment... when the police were at his house they stated they had a warrant and he needed to go in, so he said "ok, can I take my meds and brush my teeth first?" (works overnights so they woke him up). They say sure, and then proceed to let him walk out of sight into his bedroom to grab his meds?!?! My buddy being the guy he is stops at his bedroom door and says "wait, no. Can you guys go in there and get my meds? I'm not going anywhere that you can't see me."

What officer in their right mind would allow someone out of their sight, especially when its regarding a weapons related incident? Especially 6 different officers, and especially with someone who has multiple weapons related incidents?!

…and yet another example of why a cell phone isn’t always a cell phone. We pulled this off of a guy today; it’s chambered in .380 ACP. Hopefully this will give the non-LEO’s reading this thread more perspective on why someone “only holding a cellular phone” isn’t enough for a seasoned LEO to rule out the possession of a deadly weapon.

Does the $24m judgement come out of the police patrol budget?

so does this now allow police to pull their firearms and shoot with deadly force if someone is waving a cell phone at you?

If you can articulate well, you can shoot much/most of the time. I’ve known cell phone guns have existed for years.

are you saying that if you can articulate the "fear the XYZ could have been used as a deadly weapon" you can pull your gun most of the time?

not sure what you meant up top. i know this is massively grey area

I can pull my gun all of the time if I want to. Traffic stops are inherently dangerous; case law has cemented that more times than I can count. I was explaining that the decision to shoot and how it’s viewed all depends on articulation.

I watch way too many videos. And I will never understand WHY anyone in a traffic stop situation would not move slowly and stay calm. Being angry and waving ones arms around doesn't seem like a good idea.

I also LOVE watching the sovereign citizen stops. What the hell does "I'm not driving I'm traveling" even mean?

You need a license to drive, but no license is required to "travel" in their minds.

Also, I believe that the citation for driving without a license is "unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle" in these parts, not even using the term "drive".....

The BEST part of those videos is when the result of their insanity is made clear to them as the cuffs go on and the nice comfy clean seat in the back of the patrol vehicle is offered.

I just want to thank you for all that you do and sincerely hope you don't have to deal with people like this very often:

Secondly - had to share this with you because it's just the best use of a LEO truck I've seen in a long long time

My friends wife goes in for all this Freeman on the land nonsense, she talks a great game but doesn't have the parts to step up to the plate. I told her if she really believes it she should shred her drivers licence and take the plates off her car and see how it goes with the police when she gets pulled over. Just rubbish.

Body cams are the best, we didn't have them when I was on the job but they truly are a fantastic tool for showing the garbage coppers have to deal with, I'd love to be sitting in court when they play this.

How much alcohol does it take for a person to treat a room full of LEO’s that terribly? I didn’t know people like this existed - is she a crackhead or like a normal lady when sober? I’m gonna go with crackhead prostitute - is my best guess.

The number of videos on the internet that reveal the shocking lack of knowledge and understanding of the law and the constitutional protections is mind boggling.

Okay, so having said all that, how is the public supposed to feel about the average LEO when these are the people who represent you and attitudes like this appear to be the norm, not the exception? I truly am interested in what you might have to say that could change my perception. I’ll also say I come from a family with a lot of police officers and firefighters.

This incident prompted me to post because I am an Army veteran and this is UTTERLY DISGUSTING!!!! Not only is the officers’ behavior disgusting, the internal affairs findings are disgusting. Thank goodness the Dallas PD has a civilian oversight board.

So considering you come from a family of “police officers and firefighters”, do the actions of the few whom are sensationalized in the media taint your opinions of the police officers you know personally? To paint with such a broad brush would be the equivalent of me using a small group of military personnel whose actions are unbecoming to label all military personnel. Police across the country interact with the public tens of thousands of times a day. The situation(s) you are referring to are a very small percentage of those encounters. There are even statistics out there to support my statement.
