Bimmerpost App 5.x WIP for Android

I think its all because of one single root issue. All the problems you faced before and now are all coming from one place. I'm trying to isolate where that is.

I think I might have gotten it, so I just put out version 5.0.4. It might take a few minutes for Google to release it, but let me know on if helps you?

Make sure after you install 5.0.4 you logout and re login again to let it realign your credentials

You need to expand the size of your mailbox @apptest

Great update. One feature ask is the ability to have MyForums be saved to a top-level section, not just individual sub-forum. Being able to go straight to G80 or G20 top level category would save a bunch of clicks.

I guess the cute for that is to select the master forum as My-Forum

5.0.5 freshly installed after having uninstalled the older version.

Just hangs forever with the blue circle spinning both on Android 9 on a Samsung tablet and Android 12 on a Samsung phone, FWIW.

My bimmerpost app on my Android automatically updated without me uninstalling and installing, I normally use Desktop for bimmerpost so this was a refreshing change.

The interface is definitely better than the old one for the phone so I will definitely use the app more now.

Another +1 for dark mode if possible!

5.04 was working ok. Downloaded 5.05. (On Samsung)

My Forums gone. Subscriptions gone. Threads won't go to last post. Avatar icon very unresponsive.
Tried to post here, said I wasn't signed in (I was)

Uninstalled, re-downloaded. Nothing. Giving up for now. What time does 5.06 come out?

I have noticed, that when I uploaded an attachment (picture) via the app, it worked however the image was sideways and I was not able to remove it via the app.

Was easily remedied by logging onto the desktop and removing the picture

It's a small issue which I'm sure can be fixed easily down the track

At least we can upload photos on the phone now a lot easier in comparison to before

New app feels like new car manufacturers trends, a two press operation to subscribed threads is now a 3 press operation. 😂

My bimmerpost app on android got updated yesterday and it has been the worst experience ever.

- I get notifications that I have received a message and when I click on the new message it's just blank.

- While typing, the stuff I wrote earlier gets deleted word by word or my sentences get jumbled up

- When I read a thread it doesn't mark it as read. After refreshing it marks all the threads as read despite having them read or not.

- When replying to a quote it adds weird characters to the quoted message as if it's displaying the underlying coding.

- My notifications don't clear out when I click on them.

- When editing an existing message, it won't submit with the new edit. It keeps trying but nothing happens. I have to quit the app.

I have reinstalled the app by deleting it and same thing.

Anyone else having this issue?

Phone automatically downloaded V5.0.5 during the night. Signed in but nothing in my forums. When viewing forums that where in my forums, red heart indicator is there. Subscriptions are showing up.

How do you find previous posts or threads?

I worked for a short while with the testers behind the scenes debugging the app. They, I found, are really appreciative of our feedback so write to them but please be kind, they're doing their best to resolve the issue as you post them.

I use a Google Pixel phone so I'm lucky to have Android 12 but I also tested the app on a Samsung TabA with Android 11.

What we found was this:

Ideally, your Android should be updated before you update your BimmerPost app.

Some of the issues persist - any editing done doesn't submit when you press the paper plane button (to right hand side)

Please be patient, these guys are going at it with all their might

Write to @apptest and give them your findings. It would also be useful if you would give them your Android version as well.
