That’s the product that was used. I’m going to do an oil analysis after every oil change now (completely unnecessary, but I love data). Interested to see the first report after break in period. |

Just called Mishimoto to ask:
1. How much extra oil goes in the car? 2. After installing, do you check the oil the same as before? (Through the idrive system) The guy couldn't answer #1 with certainty, he said about 0.25-0.5qts extra. Then he started telling me that modern cars can run with even 1-2qts. less than the fill line. I don't care what he thinks about modern cars, or anything else other than our car in question. He said he knows because he worked at a dealer :. He did say he'll put in a ticket to update the website soon, but can't give me a timeframe. For #2, he said it should be the same process as before. It felt like a lot of "should be" and nothing with certainty. As we all know, having the correct amount of oil in these engines is crucial! Same goes for a proper reading of the level. Safe to say, I've been put off completely by this product and will hold off until one of you brave souls decide to test it out on your cars. Thanks! |

Definitely not a great way to run the help desk or earn new business.
The last oil cooler I did we ended up with nearly a quart more of oil of oil but thinking about it now it was likely due to additional oil drain off. Follow up changes I didn't track that closely. I will definitely take better notes on this swap.

Yep, did not inspire any confidence. I even asked to speak to an engineer and it was declined of course. Oh well, I guess I can spend my money elsewhere for now.
Let us know how yours is and how the install goes. Would've been nice to have it for the California heat this summer. |

Measuring oil should be the same, the sensor is in the oil pan so there should be no difference. I do agreed that their customer support isn't the best, however they products are top notch and high quality.
Honestly, I don't expect to see huge benefit during normal driving, just switching to sport mode might be enough. Where I do expect to see more benefit is on track, once you get heat soak, you need more area to cool it. Given the extra area and additional oil this should do it |

Definitely great products. I've never needed their support. Just set it and forget it.

I read some technical info on the BMW pressure sensor over here. I am confident that it will keep up with the change.

Hoping next weekend to do the oil changes for all 3 of our BMW's to install the aga drain plug. I'll do mine last and knock out the oil cooler as well.

I’ve had the oil cooler in for about 2 months. I’ve done 2 track days and the oil is about 20 degrees cooler than before. I was getting up to 265 to 275 before and would insert a cooldown lap mid session, start short shifting. Now temps never get above 250, redline shifts.

Finally installed the Mishimoto oil cooler today. It was incredibly simple to remove and reinstall.
It probably took longer for us to get the tools out and jack the front of the car and set up our renn stands than it did to remove and install the new Mishimoto oil cooler. The car took 10 qts of oil and two bottles of mos2 liquimoly on the refill. No issues with pressure or measurement.

This totals as almost 12 litres of oil!! The OEM oil refill is 8.5 litres. This is a huge difference brother. Are you sure it’s right? 3.5 litres extra?? |

When filling the oil initially we filled to 9 qts warmed the car and drive moderately for about 3 miles. At that stop we let the car idle and checked the oil fill. It was at that point that it registered at/below the min line. We used individual 1qt bottles for the fill so each bottle had some residual oil in the container after the pour. It could also be that a 1qt bottle or two was a little light on the liquid. I will say the oil temps have been consistently lower but I am also mindful that daily temps here in central/ southwest Florida are about 8 degrees cooler. That said these hot v engines a very capable of making high temps. My math for qts to liters has me at approximately 9.5 liters with 10 1 qt bottles then add the 600 ml of mos2.

Edit: installed it today. Definitely an easy, straightforward task. Started with ~10qts, added another .75 after getting it up to temp and doing an oil level test, which showed it ~1/4 up from the Min line. That said, I would have in hindsight started with 9.5, as I realized the thermostat for the cooler wouldn't even be open when I first start the car. I also weighed them: stock is ~6lbs, Mishi is ~9.5lbs. Last edited by vafan13; 04-09-2023 at 11:43 AM.. |

Things have been stellar. Engine oil temps have been consistently lower. Not sure if it was the mos2 or the added oil/cooling but I have seen an improvement in fuel economy.
