It has been confirmed by bmw and ssp that the issue is caused by metallic wear acculumation to the mechatronic magnetic sensors causing the sensors to loose reading accuracy over time as more wear dirt accumulates.....fix is to clean sensors or install new trans+ 2018 bmw firmware updates

Keep us posted......so I gather from your last post that after some hard runs you started getting the rod shift error?
***remember the oem BMW flash update will erase your ECU tune....you will have to reflash the aftermarket tune after oem flash

Hi. I recently experienced the same message and after getting my local dealer to have a look, they are looking to replace metatronic sensors. The warranty will be covering the costs so will update you if it fixes the problem.

The only info I have is that the latest 2018 BMW software updates combined with the specific Mechatronics transmission cleaning will resolve the issue (per SSP)

Guys, update on this issue.
The BMW's plagued "Rod code issues" can be resolved now... Almost all of the Rod Code issues result from a transmission clutch relearn or adaptation. This happens because the parameters of the transmission have changed due to clutch wear and metallic debris accumulating on the shift fork magnets. Solution: Update latest 2016 transmission firmware before doing any adaptations Clean all shift fork magnets during service Clean Megatronic unit including internal filters SSP Performance |

When updating software I believe it wipes away the tune at the same time. That's what I heard.
