Powertrain upgrades for the M5 LCI?
Hi everyone,
As you may or may not have seen, Merc is testing its 4Matic E63 AMG. Motor Trend said that it will do 0-60mph in about 3.4secs. Will the M5 be dethroned by Mercedes? The LCI for the M5 should give it more torque, and, somehow, more grip. I'm not saying that ///M should start making xDrive BMWs, but look at what AMG did with 4Matic. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1212_2014_mercedes_benz_e63_amg_4matic_development _mule_first_look/viewall.html I'd hate to see people criticizing the M5 in comparison with the E63. Also, think of this: some say that even the Panamera GTS is a better driver's car than the M5 because of its constant responsiveness to the road, and it is just 0.1 secs slower to 60mph. BMW should wake up. Were have all of the "legendary" M genes gone?

Link you posted doesn't work?? In either case, while shopping for a car I did look at the E63 AMG and others but came to the decision of purchasing an F10 M5 with delivery next year because of course the performance but also the styling. The front of the E63 AMG looks very aggressive but the side profile and especially rear end looks blah boring to me personally. I do like certain things on the MB but I wonder how much more of a premium an E63 AMG owner will have to pay since a well equipped MB is quite a bit more than an F10 M5. BTW, since when will the F10 M5 LCI get a bump in torque/power? Last "spy" report only hinted at aesthetic changes only. As far as criticizing, people will do it anyway so there's no way around that. |

Dealer say LCI for the 5 series is comming but...
...M5 will get a facelift a couple of months later? Is this normal practice? Am aware the mods will be very small for the M5 (full LED option likely), but the bumpers and so on will likely to stay the same.
If you know what might to change, please speak up bcs I need to know if LCI is worth the wait. xdrive - found some talk on the web regarding USA snow belt region where people would likely to buy xdrive? AMG is apparantley offering 4matic for most of their cars from 2013 onwards. I agree BMW does not really need it, but it would help aftersale value M6 steering wheel - perhaps they add on a different wheel for LCI New wheels - Those from an M6 gran coupe? Thanks a lot! And congrats to all of you lucky owners and future owners! |

OK, point taken, read the thread, so one more question pending, is LCI for M5 coming much later then the one for the standard 5 series. Because dealer said LCI for the 5 comes out in September 2013 and the one for the M5 much later. His words, said it was standard practice, find that hard to believe.

Deeply disappointed in BMW. LCI update is deeply disheartening. Why BMW is essentially screwing owners who stepped up and bought a 2013 is complete BS!!! My car will be dated in less then a year and thus further decreasing resale.

There are already 3 exactly same topics on this page. It's good to just open a new topic disregarding everything else, but at least CTRL+F the word "LCI" or search it and you'll get more replies to your same topic. Those people who wasted their energy replying there will usually don't do it on repeated topics.
