Agree that most enthusiasts will notice it regardless of colour though I really had to double check when an SB cruised by. I dont even mind the youngsters trying it on with you. They simply want to have a closer look and hear an M in full flight. Its normally the older guys in an audi / Merc diesel that should know better that annoy me |

Did you get BMW to fit the video camera and was it expensive? Is it permanently attached or do you remove it when you get out of the car? It seems to make more and more sense to get a camera, generally to protect yourself against others' idiotic driving but also to defend yourself against bogus personal injury claims. The m5 can be a bit of a magnet for both!

The convenient head-turn is very amusing when you spot it! I was rather crudely undertaken and "humbled" the other day by a lovely customised 520d (or similar) with what looked like 20" alloys (which were about 2 inches too wide for the arches), an "M" badge and various other bits of random paraphernalia Despite the dangerousness of the jack-knife manoeuvre that the driver performed and his glances at the rear view mirror, I couldn't be bothered to take the bait - after all, what would have been the point of showing him something that anyone with a brain cell would have realised in the first place?

That sounds great. Presumably it just records what is happening in front of the car, rather than behind it/beside it?

I have a limerock m3. GETS TOO much attention. When you have a nice car and especially a attractable color, you will always get comments and attention. Some good and some bad.

Quickish update chaps
Ended up test driving the latest E63, standard C63 and of course the M5 in this order. E63 - Thunderous engine and a very well appointed interior. C63 - They are giving these things away over here. Perhaps I was spoilt driving the e63 a few weeks earlier but had great expectations on this famous engine but found it very underwhelming M5 - Nothing you chaps dont already know but the standouts for me was DCT which is unbelievably more resolved than my old e92 m3, HUD cool, Full throttle in 3rd gear ....Holy moly!!!!! Suffice to say, I left a deposit on an approved used model and pick her up end of the month IMHO the transmission on the 2 mercs is what ultimately dissuaded me from moving marques. Whilst they are fine in slow traffic, it really detracted from my enjoyment when you were looking to stretch the cars legs and found the delay just unacceptable For me this the M5's standout feature against its current competition. Will post some pics up when I collect her! |
