Great to have aftermarket support for this engine. It has to be a lens thing with the connecting rod picture......the Carrillo looks larger in both the wrist pin and crank journal dimensions? I could see the wrist pin being larger with aftermarket pistons, but not the crank! Thanks for posting, always interesting to see the internals. Oh, did you reduce compression with the larger turbos?

Thanks for all the love guys! Means a lot to all of us at the shop. We couldn'tbr happier for Ruben. His car is constantly evolving for the better. We believe it to be the baddest M5 with the most potential on the planet right now. Only thing holding us back is the DCT nannies and figuring out the maps so it doesn't keep doing weird stuff.
Used2Be - I think the reason the stock rod looks smaller on the big end is because it still has the rod bearing in it and the Carrillo does not. Also guys the side by side pic of the inlet compressor wheels is not next to a stock turbo. The stock frame turbo in the pic was a hybrid we had comp do for us back in Nov 2015. They were on a the white 2015 comp package you see pics on track at VIR. I would say they were similar to pure stage 2's. We took everything we learned from that hybrid to pick out the Borge Warner 7163 we are now using. Any other questions just let us know. Ruben and us are happy to share. |

What happened to the gold foil wrapped around the charge pipes? I thought that was a really slick looking addition.

I feel at some point you're capable of a serious answer, so I'll remain optimistic.
