Got a call yesterday saying letter re: free one day "M School" will arrive soon and asked if I was happy with that.
I said I would prefer an extended warranty. She said she would follow up with her boss. I did ED and car was only delayed by a week or so. What are people with that fact pattern getting? If they are getting school+cash, I would take that, but to me the logical thing is to restore peace of mind via extended engine warranty. |

Well, I'm done with this I guess. I have pretty much exhausted my options. Phone call and letter to BMW Canada and my dealership working on this too. BMW Canada told my dealership that they are not going to step up at all. Pretty disappointing, not even a cheap reach-around or a punch in the nuts. Car out of action for 21 days. Dealership did step up and offer 2 free details for my car. BMW must be doing really well that they are willing to alienate people willing to drop 120K on a vehicle. I want to be more pissed off, but the M5 is just too fucking awesome. *sigh*

Not confusing at all. Totally canada. I can say that since was born n raised there. Its night and day different when u compare customer service between the two countries. Anyone who has spent extended time in each country (and i dont mean lots of one day border hop visits....i mean lived there) would say the same I bet. Sad really....i didnt want to go at first, now i dont ever want to go back...

Formula for ED
Does anyone have a formula or a difinitive way to determine if and what compensation should be?
For ED, I would guess that a prorated monthly payment (assume avg of $1500) for every week that your car exceeded 10 weeks west coast and 8 weeks east coast. Also assuming that you dropped off in Munich or Bremerhaven. I don't think many will be affected under that criteria. When you throw an Act of God like Sandy into the mix, anything by BMW would be generous.

Start high, and work down which appears to what is taken place. Also some loyalty kudos thrown in, and I made it clear this is my 6th BMW and wanted to be greased fairly. OT did help that I said 7 will come next year and I still have three of them in the garage now. The last thing they want is to kill future sales, and they can see your purchase record. Good luck.

Yes, it seem to make would make sense but in BMW's eyes Canada is the red headed step child.

Ditto. Got my letter today. Honestly, I thought that class was free with every M5 in the first place. I got with E60 and attended. Good fun, but not something I feel like repeating. Maybe if it were an advanced class I might schlep over there. Otherwise this "compensation" is a coupon for a free product that I don't want (and can't sell / xfer), so is worthless to me.

Count me in for receiving the offer today. For me this gesture was good enough to make up for the 2 extra days that the car spent at the VDC having the pump replaced.

Received a call today to inform me my request has now been put in front of a "supervisor" (whose name I couldn't attain) and they will get back to me (wait for it) in 3-5 days. I informed them this is the last time I will accept that response and should this not be resolved in that time frame I am contacting BMW directly. At this point I am not being treated like a long term customer. I am the next person to read an index card to over the phone. Fail. : |

Letter for 1 day M school came today. Notice that accomodations are not included.
I would like to see if I can use this as partial credit for a two day school, anybody have an idea of the value of the one day school being offered?
