Again, I am positive that most people will experience this if they test drive both cars by pushing them slightly on some back roads or freeway on/off ramps. I am not marginalizing the power difference between the cars. The M5 torque is CRAZY and the thrill of it is probably enough buying justification for 99% of the people who want and can afford this car. |

The M5 traction is pretty amazing too. My passengers often can't believe the car stays on the road when taking corners.

I have the 2013 M5, and the F10 non M and M drive differently. Yes, they are both heavy, just as the Panamera is heavy. You even said that the M5 handles like the gran tourismo 535, which is totally off the mark. |

And my alternative reliance would be on what? A drive around the block in each? If I just went ahead and bought both, there'd be no need for any third party opinions. ;=)

We are all car fanatics or we would not be posting on internet boards about $100K cars that we have bought or consider buying. In the end, I felt 30 min test drives, reading stuff on the internet and a week of restless sleeping was enough for me to make my decision, which I am very happy with. |

Make this easy, and buy the car you like it's your dime and your selections. The back of the Porsche has to grow on you like my old 2002 745i bangle butt. All in all you have to love it, and thats not a dig .....again you have to live with your 100k choice like the rest of us.

Guys! Guys! Porsche is more of a racing-oriented car manufacturer than BMW. But I have to say, the M division is losing what their cars have been praised for before: extreme agility and nimbleness. I hope that the F series Ms made so far will receive an LCI which makes steering better.

I get rather confused why some buy the M5 and say it does not do this or that? I have owned several M cars, and I will say I'm very pleased. But one must understand a 4 door is not a track car unless you want to believe the hype on all of them. With that said it's the M5 is still the best on class when it comes to the track. The e39 was and is a great car, but I would never go back to it for the the F10 offers bottom line. If you own the M5 enjoy it, and if you don't you are like a reporter trying to get credit for a story not knowing the facts. Gee wiz

I am curious to see how the Audi RS7 will compare. I believe it is scheduled to debut in January.
Looks are subjective. I think the Panamera GTS provides a more dynamic and raw driving experience, while the M5 provides more outright thrust. Porsche have never been a good value, but at this price point, it shouldn't matter too much to prospective buyers. My main concern with the M5 is traction. The car is simply under-tired given its weight and torque, and I am not sure how much room there is for wider rubber.
