We had the oem pump running at 120% but it is not enough. Quick study learned that the fuel pump has three stages, low - mid - high, each controlled by its own wire. Perhaps we will hook up an extra pump to the wire for high level, so only when lots of extra fuel is needed (WOT) it activates the extra pump. But the guys are thinking it over carefully before executing it.

Really like to know what boost yr system is running at, shouldn't be difficult to get a digital gauge that plug into the obd2 port n immediately u can tell what's the max boost u r running after a 4th or 5 gear pull. Can tell that most of us wanted to push the power to the next level so we need to explore into different boost level with different gas n of course methods like changing fuel pump n etc for the present moment unless someone break the DME code. Thks.

If I can get my hands on such tools I will let you know.
In the meantime we found out that the fuel pump is running on ac, while the rest of the world is on direct current. There are no alternating current fuel pumps other than BMW use. We need to think how we can change to direct current, but this involves hardware and software changes. Not easy, but once done it will be a solid foundation for more power in the near future. |

More data logging shows the fuel pump produces consistent with enough pressure. We are seeing a drop in fuel pressure at the high pressure system in higher gears under WOT. Not sure yet what causes the drop. Since the gearbox torque limiter was removed this happens.
Will keep you posted. |

It seems the software cannot keep up with the fuel request. I need someone to actually program the car through the obd port, and I found someone. Need to make an appointment soon and get it sorted. The cause was removing the gear box torque limiter. Fuel demand is now too great. I will give detailed info once this is sorted and I will tell you how it was done, so we will know if we have an actual proper remap.

The fuel pump in the tank runs at 5 bar (72.5 psi) continuous. The high pressure fuel pumps run at a maximum of 200 bar (2,900 psi). They cannot produce a higher pressure without software modifications. As soon as my engine requests over 200 bar, it drops the fuel pressure to under 100 bar, and goes into limp mode. This cannot be solved with piggy bags, it requires a proper dme tune I mentioned above. This problem started when we removed the torque limiter from the gearbox. Once sorted I am sure it will be awesome and it opens up the doors to upgraded turbos.

I'm having about the same issues with PP-Peformance Stage 3 kit in my M5F10.
After 3rd gear car is starting to shoot into the exhaust and jerking @ about 6200rpm. Usually it happens in 4th. After all it falls in the limp mode. It shows drivetrain malfunction on the dash. When you read it with scanner it shows multiple cylinder misfires P0300 as well as other cylinder misfire codes P0301, P0302, P0305, P0308, etc. Changed the plugs and coils - same thing. Once it has thrown P0087 fuel system pressure low. Maybe a pump as well? Or the fuel pressure sensor? |
