Ssp clutch review or why you should not buy it.

Hello to everyone! I want to give full review about ssp production . l have bought ssp spec r for my m6 installed it , for first almost 3000km everything seemed to be ok, after about 2850km car started to move when you are in mdm mode and standing on 1 gear, after few km more ,when swiching first or reverse gearbox started to hit . Ok removing clutch and what we see, all plates are ok exept two plates, metal plate bended in one place and started to overheat friction plate .After detailed defectation we saw that ssp plates are made not accurate every spline is very sharp and basicly it can cought on basket any second .Compared oem plates to ssp, ssp is made from cheap steal and without any additional macheaning to make splines accurate and precise. Sent all photos to ssp, for a few days Kris were telling that everything and everyone guilty exept his garbage clutch , after he finaly asked to ship clutch pack to him for warranty repair , to get it back I waited 2 weeks (he got it in few days because i have sent with express) After I got pack back I was realy mad when I saw his "repair" , he gave only one new friction plate and two metal plates he just smashed with something to make them straight and grinded with 80 sandpaper at least it looks like so. Besides every "repared " plate size were jumping about 0.02-0.0035mm by circle .Calling Kris, useless he is not answering, sending pics on wats up , finaly answered - everything ok just put inside, Im telling that i dont like this plates i dont think that it would work- ok i will sent new plates if you want. Serious? And wait 3 weeks more , i dont understand it was so hard to put 2 new plates wtf? After few hour discussion Kris told to put as it is with words that he measured everything and it will work perfect. Putting all back, new oil, filters, adaptations all by his own instructions and what do you think? Clutch works like crap put 1 gear , pause then hit from gearbox, then car moves .Same with reverse and plus when driving and putting off foot from gas pedal there is noise from clutch. Looks like Kris making clearence of this clutches two fingers between moon and stars. Ok I told about situation to Kris , he told that clutch was installed incorrect and he dont care about anything ,no warranty and no refund. So guys I advice not to buy this garbage , othervice you will throw your money togeather with ssp clutch to garbage can.
Worst attitude and quality i have ever met.

Today I have made few pics to understand quality compared to oem. First pic ssp, you can see how rough are surface of splines, other two are oem.

It slot of people posting about it but I know 5 different guys with similar issues. Good thing for them is SSP took care of the issues but still, scared me away quick when I had my F10. Most of the issues seem to be heat related and plates melting / grinding together. Can't drive it like you do stock on these SSPs.

From what I researched though, still the better option on the market. Just too many issues. I'd rather just go stock.

That is the point ,that ssp dont take care and noone will cover work, oil and filters and shipping every time you have to remove clutch.

I had my SSP SpecR clutches installed by a local shop who had supposedly installed many SSP clutches prior to mine, therefor I figured I was ok entrusting my car to them. Unfortunately I too have had a bad experience thus far. Although I've put over 5k miles on these clutches, their engagement is no where near as smooth on throttle tip in and downshifting is ridiculously slow as compared to stock. Not to mention a lot of noises from the trans as you come to a stop that weren't there before. The installer insists the noises are the shift forks working against the added pressures from the new clutches but I'm not convinced. At the time, I left numerous messages for Kris and sent emails from different emails in case they were going to his spam folder. I never received a response. I've read fantastic reviews about his products but unfortunately I'm one of the few for whom this product is not working as intended. A simple phone call from the manufacturer, even if only to get his thoughts on the matter, would have gone a long way. If you guys know a reputable shop in the Chicagoland area that can redo the job, I'd appreciate some contact information.

Last week we decided to open gearbox again and check what we can do, we took oem clutch and measured clearence of cource it was diffirent , so we took one oem plate grinded it on magnetic plate , now clearence is on 0,3mm smaller .Put everything back, adapted with ista, now gearbox acts much more better but still punches and making noises. After research I have found one very usefull guy , he also making racing clutches for many car models, after i have told about my problems, he told that im not the first with ssp problems, and usualy when clutch plate (friction) got dammage small peaces going through mechatronic and either it could be cleaned either thrown in garbage can. Next week i will order new clutch from him ,also sending mechatronic to him and we will see if cleaning will help. After new clutch install i will give a reviw , but so far looks like its the best on market as all russians and middle east is using it without problems. Dekaclutch.com

Try to clean mechatronic and forks , if you cant find anyone who can do it for you, you can ship it to dekaclutch and they can try to clean and chech it for you.
