BMW M5 M Performance Exhaust First Look, Details and Great Sounds
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW M5 M Performance Exhaust First Look, Details and Great Sounds We were on hand to have a look at the BMW M Performance Exhaust for the F10 M5 and we're excited to provide our members with the first look, listen and details of this upcoming exhaust system. The M5 M Performance Exhaust system is titanium construction, 12 feet in length and 33 pounds lighter than the factory M5 exhaust. It will come in two versions - one with titanium steel tips (as pictured below) and a carbon fiber tip version. The titanium tips feature an M engraving and we imagine the carbon fiber may also feature some graphic or emblem. The M5 M Performance Exhaust will of course maintain the car's factory warranty when it becomes late this year. The M6 will also be receiving the same exhaust system. Full details, specs and pricing to come later, but for now, have the first listen at the exhaust as well as an introduction by Stefan Weiss, Product Manager for M Performance Parts. Although this is a 'pre-production' version, expect the final product to sound essentially the same. And it sounds and looks excellent in person, which hopefully comes through somewhat in our video and photos below. Updated with our second video. This second clip features BMW's champion race car driver Scott Pruett giving a joy ride in the M5. |

Awesome. Lighter materials, a more aggressive note that doesn't sound childish, single-walled tips... what's not to love? (Besides the price).
I love my MPE. I'm glad to see BMW make additional exhausts available to other models. I'm curious how this affects the M5 and M6's Active Sound, though.

Ok, I'll just come right out and say it. It's Akrapovic exhaust with different tips. LOL!
Examine each closely! But wait! If Finkle is Einhorn and Einhorn is Finkle?!?!?!!?!?!!!

M performance exhaust for an M car? Gimme a break... Why isn't this standard on the M5? Besides, it still sounds too throaty for my liking anyway...

Seeing as how the M3 perf exhaust is uber-expensive and made of Iconel-- this one is made of titanium so the cost is gonna be higher like $6000+
