I don't know all the intricacies of tuning these things, but if it isn't too technical, why would you need to have boost different from one bank to another? Wouldn't you want both turbos to be doing the same thing at the same time? Why have separate controls?

I can only imagine because not all cylinders have the same compression/leak down numbers....

If there's a large discrepancy in the four cylinders fed by one turbo, wouldn't you want to fix the difference, not tune the turbo? That's more of a build problem, not a tuning problem I'd think.

Even a stock car can have 1-3psi delta between banks. You can adjust via the WG arm or do it electronically.

Dual bank control allows both banks to have the same boost. On the s63tu the design is cross-bank so both sides feed a turbo at the turbine but compressor feeds one bank at the intake. Best performance is achieved when both are equal.

This morning car ran a 5.3s 60-130mph at 26psi (colder and better conditions).

This is on stock intake and stock exhaust. Will try with an intake shortly and increase the boost a bit... I think 4.x is achievable.
Awesome!

So BMW felt it wasn't necessary to include in their already complicated programming a way to achieve equal psi from each compressor? Would that have been difficult for them to do?

Do later versions of the s63tu have an electronically controlled waste gate? Did BMW have better control of output psi on those motors?

The stock system has the ability to control by bank. There are two solenoids controlling each WG arm. However, once you flash the car it has less ability to do so since it has an upper ceiling. The initial JB4 BCM v1 could not do per-bank... and the new v2 version can. So when you are trying to target significantly higher boost than stock, it has a benefit to have dual-bank control.

The issue starts manifesting itself on cars with upgraded turbos where the factory DME can't quite handle the characteristics of the turbo (at least no toooner has been able to do it... I am sure it is possible).

Is this mainly beneficial to full on turbo swaps or hybrids too?

Dumb question that I am not very clear on. Is this all new hardware? I would assume that there are more connection pints. I never got an answer from them.

It’s less hardware since you no longer need that BCM box. The boost solenoid harness comes out directly from the JB4 unit.

Tons - I haven't done half the stuff I did on the old car which netted 10% more at least. Plus I can always turn up the boost!

Most happy about the power curve.. its nearly like OEM but making a LOT more power.
