My M6 is now at 3000 miles, like the X5M, I break it in hard and had no issues with oil consumption. No battery issues so far with either car. Will do the same for my M5 when it arrives. |

Confused about SIB 613014... I called my dealer, and my car was manufactured on 11/13 (within the specified production date for our engine on the bulletin), but the dealer says this bulletin in not for M cars. Someone is wrong; I want to know who...

I've done one better; I have called the Atlanta BMW dealership that sent this, and given them my VIN. They say there are no outstanding bulletins for my car. The only bulletin was the coolant line insulation, which I was among the first on the forum to have completed. I'm waiting on a call back from a service advisor from that dealer, as the person who checked was not one. I have also taken a screen shot of that message on the M6 Gran Coupe and sent it to my dealer and asked "what gives"? The cars are identical-mechanically. I'm waiting on a call from them as well. I will get to the bottom of this, on way or another...

The coolant lines that feed the turbos get very hot, such they they can spew coolant at the clamps with the expansion at the junction of rubber and metal lines. This point is just below and at the front of the plastic engine cover...

Most certainly. I am pretty over-the-top-anal-retentive; I send the oil samples into Blackstone every other change as well... You know the kind of people who need the labels on the beer bottles to all face forward in the fridge, but none of them touching each other lest they "clink" when I open the beer fridge?... That kind of anal-retentive...

I'll pull the SIB tonight and post it. It'll help clear things up.

Here's the SIB referenced.
M5/M6's with the S63 fall under this SIB, however the battery replacement is only to be carried out on every second oil change. However, note that in respect to the M5/M6 these are new changes as of December 2015. (Everything with the little red NEW, means it was recently added to the bulletin). So all dealers probably don't know about it yet. |

My SA and techs are pretty good with customers doing their own extra maintenance and performing the appropriate SIBs when required. |

Very easy. The process is done via resetting the tripometer without starting the car, (hitting the start button without foot on the brake). A menu pops up, and you roll through it.

I not only change mine at triple the recommended ratio, I send a sample each change to Blackstone for analysis. The dealer gives me absolutely no trouble.

I believe 2014 cars and up are part of the new policy by BMW NA and they replace the batteries on them.
