Yes thankfully everyone is ok. One of my passengers may have a fractured rib but that's the worst of it. Other driver was released from the hospital today.

In all i was pretty impressed with the way the car handled it. While a lot of the exterior panels pushed into the inner panels the passenger area was relatively secure.

Yep, that's a write off for sure. Hopefully you've got a good insurer who makes the claims experience a smooth one.

Hope you and any passengers were not injured?

Possibly too early to say, but do you think you'll get another F10 M5 as a replacement or will you go for something else?

Wow. Glad to hear that no one was seriously injured (sans the rib fracture) If I may asked, what happened? Did the driver run a red light, or stop sign?

Ouch, I'm glad everyone is relativity safe. Here's how I think about it, "its easy to replace cars, people not so much".

Hope so, been working with geico all day on this now. Overall injuries were thankfully minimal. Everybody walked away safe and well.

As for the replacement, I'm pretty sure I'm getting another F10 just because I love the car, not sure if I want 6mt or dct this time and also need to see what the insurance is going to do with the situation. Hopefully the other driver is found at fault seeing as he ran the red and I walk away unscathed on the insurance level. So time will tell.

I'll assume your familiar with Brooklyn based on your avatar lol. Was driving down ave o between East 18th and East 17th. Had the green on 18th so proceeded, the light on 17th was still red so I was slowing then the light turned green so I proceeded. Right while I was entering the intersection the other car I guess was trying to catch the light and slammed right into the car. He was traveling south to north and after he hit me ended up facing south. I can only assume he was doing 40+ when he slammed into me.

100% agreed! I'm thankful that everyone is safe. Plenty of other m5s out there!

#1) glad you and your passenger are ok
#2) hopeful you get a reasonable amount back
#3) amazed at how well your car can absorb that amount of impact and protect the occupants. I guess there is some good in government testing

My limit on the replacement is in the $50k range and as blasphemous as this question might be I'm actually really not sure what I should get.

The F90 would be ideal but i can't really wait for it to come down and I'm not willing to throw more at the budget.

This has me crossed between say a 2015 F10 M5 and a 2018 M550i.

The f10 is my favorite, should I move forward with that it would be my 3rd F10 and it goes without saying how amazing it is at everything.

The g30 550 has all the tech one would want though and I'm kinda feeling that i want that tech in my life these days and seems like it has the power too. (I haven't driven one yet) But on the other hand every time I see an f10 or any REAL M for that matter I'm sure I'd regret my decision with not going for the M.

I'm just not sure what to do

If it was me, I'd go for the 2018 M550i. Like you said, the tech is crazy and it does have the power you are looking for (Downpipes & a tune and you're gone!). Now about you seeing a real M5 in your M550i, you might see one like once a week but you'll be enjoy all the confronts of the G30 everyday. Plus there is a different kind of fun building a new chassis style. Let us know either way you pick!

There is no substitute for an M with just one number after it, anything else is just catch up.

i think you just answered your own question.

Might as well buy some more M decals and put it all over the car to make you feel like you are driving an M, but one look at the side mirrors or exhaust and the M community will wonder why didn't you just buy an M?

Quick update. Declared a total loss today with $25K plus in damages! Got a good laugh out of the inspection report which I guess by insurance regulation needs to list all the parts and their costs for repair. It was literally a "How to build an F10 M5" manual.

As for the next car, I am leaning toward F85 X5M 2017+ this way I get the M5 with a little better tech and AWD for the NY seasons.
