The only comparable stats was manufacturer data for both cars. BTW, I have referred to all of those Sport Auto tests several times and have written several posts in the F8x thread you linked to. |

So the F10 M5 CP will lap hockenheim same as a F80 M3 (1:12,8)? That's just ridiculously good for the M5.
I'm pretty sure the nurburgring time for the M5 is at least 5 seconds better with the CP car as well. I'm surprised sport auto didn't do that test yet. |

If the sportauto results in the following link are as tested and I'm guessing (German) correctly, the M5 comp is also more elastic 80 to 100 and 80 to 120
http://www.sportauto.de/vergleichste...86.html?show=4 http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=998419 Does anyone have the same sportauto tests for the M5 non comp? |

I am test driving the new M3 on Sunday, so all will be revealed then.
Not expecting too much from it.

http://www.sportauto.de/supertest/bm...95.html?show=4 As you can see, the M4 and M5 are VERY close to 100MPH (not 100km/h): M4: 0-160km/h (or 100MPH) - 8,8s M5: 0-160km/h (or 100MPH) - 8,7s So only 1/10th of a second difference from 0-100MPH As has been said by others here, at high speeds the M5 starts to pull an advantage: M4: 0-200km/h (or 125MPH) - 13,7s M5: 0-200km/h (or 125MPH) - 13,0s So from 160-200km/h (100MPH-125MPH) the M5 pulls 0,6s on the M4. Expect that gap to increase after that as well. BTW, the M4 was only 1/10th of a second quicker to 100km/h (62MPH) than the M5 (4,2 vs 4,3), meaning that no great advantage for the M4 off the line. Impressive that the M4 is as good as similar to 100MPH and only looses 0,6s from 100MPH to 125MPH... |

If you did a 60-130 pull, which is to me the most important DD car measure, M5 would probably put 2-3 car lengths on the M4. |

Don't suppose you guys have seen this yet?
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=998857 In a nut-shell: 420rwhp stock, up to 480rwhp on a 2 day, hack-job tune, nothing optimized. |

Yeah, I was actually quite disappointed to hear those were the numbers for the M3. I doesn't need to be that powerful to be fun (and fun is what it's all about) yet everyone on the M3 board wants nothing short of 500whp...

Horst von Saurma said that the Nurburgring lap was only driven at approximately 80% of the capabilities of the car (to avoid accidents and due to little time in the car etc). But that in that last 20% was perhaps 80% of the cars capabilities in some cases. |

Boss I drove the F80 M3 yesterday. It pulls damn hard in the straightline but honestly there's no way it's faster than even a non-Comp Pack F10 M5 both from 0-60 and from 60-130. On the track, it'll whoop the M5 for sure though.
When do you get here anyways?! Looking forward to your visit.

Is it because people are being nice about the new m3 and dont want to put it down or is it because they cant accept it being faster than the 40k more expensive car And how the 6 cylinder sounds better inside the cabin then the CP V8 in M5 is beyond me. Windows down, m5 should destroy the tin can, if it doesnt, then the active sound in m3 is a lot more than 2-3% |
