Bootmod3 or OpenFlash?
Looking at options for tuning the M5. I like the look of both of the above.
Which would you recommend? So far I've heard nothing but good things about bootmod3 but having come across Openflash I am now unsure. Openflash has the advantage of offering free Ots maps for life and seems to have plenty of user configurable options like bootmod3. Id like to go stage 2 and fit catted downpipes but obviously dont want to push the engine to its limits, openflash offer a reduced torque map, not sure if this is available with bootmod3. If anybody has any experience with either, please chime in and let me know what you think. Any long term users input would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks |

There’s a someone on here who’s run bm3 and just changed to open flash for burble feature mainly, I’m sure he will be along soon I think he only just got openflash today
I run bm3 stg2 and it’s great and very very fast! If you don’t want to push it with bm3 choose a lower fuel octane map |

openflash
My car is being worked on by Shiv @ openflash as we speak.. attention to detail has been amazing so far by Shiv. I would highly suggest talking to him even if you chose to go in a different direction. My car is putting massive amount of power with everything stock. its not just brutal power, hes really fine tuning and making sure everything is stable and within limits. I have been really happy with his service and knowledge.

I'm just waiting on my files to be done. I had bm3 before and it was great and the level of service was amazing. But where I had to put the cats on and could only run stage 1 I thought I would try the openflash for the low torque option.
Can't go wrong with either though! the benefit of the Bootmod3 is they don't have to send you anything, as you can get the cable needed in the UK, so you can get the tune done pretty quick though as it took me a week to get the tablet from Openflash |

Haven't heard anything from UPS but they normally contact us after things have been delivered as I got it sent to my work where we export/import all the time. There will only be VAT to pay on it tho and an admin handling fee |

This is the ideal, a reputable local tuner, regardless of flash brand.

bm3 ots stage 2, giving good power, but only missing burbles with the ots maps... maybe openflash will be making ots with burble free so that is good point to go with them..

Agreed. However, HCP seems to be the best so far fine tuning the burbles. Some people have even reported losing power if burbles tunes aren’t performed correctly. Halim assured me his mild burble tune would work out well. So far so good.

I cannot stand the burbles so that is not an issue for me. It seems many people, especially in the m3/m4 world are more focused on burbles than power and reliability when it comes to tuning.
