GT3 is pretty harsh to live daily (speaking of the 997 generation experience) it's almost like a track ready race car. I won't want to drive it everyday to destroy my spine due to the terrible road conditions I have where I live. When OP mentioned the choice between a 911 turbo and a M6, my guess is that he's looking for something more of a all-around rather than a racing machine. Therefore my vote goes to the 911 turbo, however, they are both great choices.

Today, I drove a 2013 911s. Man talk about Fn fast. That was the most fun I've had in some time. That one was listed around 145k. The 07 gt3 we drove in november was fun, but the cluth was brutal, Thats when we bought the m5. Push the power button, and shit man, Cant describe the exhaust note or the 4 wheel grip. From a standstill, hands down one of the badest mofo you can get. So, get the porsche.

Id go for the 911 but it all depends on what you want... Do you want rear mounted engine, or front? AWD or Rear Do you want a heavy car or light. Do you want a luxury cruiser that is also retarted fast, or just a fast car. Test drive them both. Of course, you wont fully understand the car until you own one and can go nuts with it. I test drove an M5 and M6... then when I opened her up on the autobahn.. it was a completely different car than what I thought. |

Having a 997 gt2 modified and m5 f10 ( witch i gona change to M6 comp), i do recommend you the m6 comp.
Ok gt2 is not as comftable as the turbo and a different beast, but Even the turbo is not the daily driver you would have in the m6. M6 more space, relaxing cruiser, witch can be in 1 sec to a completly different beast. The 997/991 turbo is less changable and is more your go kart than the relaxed gt cruiser. Therefor i do see the 911 turbo more as Weekend car and not as your daily driver |

The Porsche dealership I was at yesterday north Houston Porsche they have 2 gt2's. a red and a black one. They both are badazz. I drove the whiteconvertible 12 turbo s. If I could I would have bought it. 530hp what's not to like and the way it gobbed up the Tarmac was crazy.

Which one for what?
I never understood these type of threads.. It's impossible for us to recommend a car when you just write "which one?". Don't even know if you mean a 991TT or a 930. What are you going to use the car for? Is it going to be your only car? Are you planning on having more than one passenger often? Do you want a GT or a sportscar? Have you driven or even sat in either car? etcetcetc.. My advice is test drive both cars and get the one you like best. Sorry if I sound grumpy. |

I would go with the bimmer if that's going to e your daily driver. Just picked up a 2013 911S, and I absolutely love the freaking thing. One I would never drive it daily because the M5 has many creature comforts or the M6 being the same. Again depends on what you want utility or a missile that wants to be hammered! Good luck.

I'd be happy with a Carrera 4S. Drove a 996 version once. It has about the same base price as the M6 but comparably equipped, even it is $10K more. And I bet there is a huge difference in lease price.

Fun video. You can now get carbon ceramics in the M6. I want a rematch.

I shudder to think what a replacement carbon ceramic rotor costs, especially given that the rear rotors are about as large as my M3's fronts!

Ceramics on track are night and day. Tremendous benefit - I just drove both on the F1 circuit in Texas. If I go M3/M4 for track duty in the future, I will purchase CCBs without hesitation. On the M6, it's probably not worth the cash, as you will likely only track the car once or twice.
Also CCBs around town do have some squeal. Not bad, but it's there.

I'd rather have the M6 even though a 911 Turbo will be faster. Here's why: -M6 has more comfort. 911 is less comfortable. -M6 has convenience and utility. 911 has little convience and utility. -M6 has more exclusivity. You always see 911's in SoCal (although hardly and turbo's) but to the average non-enthusiast eye all Porsches look the same. Where as the M6 stands out from the BMW line up. -M6 has a bigger engine with greater modding potential, not to mention greater exhaust note potential (ask me how I know ) Although the M6 is still in my opinion too big and heavy to be a competitive 2 door coupe sports car, it is still a better all arounder than the 911. But again, it's not fair to compare the two. The M6 is a GT Coupe the 911 is not a GT. Comparing the 911 to the upcoming F82 M4 will be more fair, especially considering that the M4 is going more the direction of Porsche and lightening up the chassis on the M4 considerably without just throwing a bunch of horsepower at it. Also I really can't wait to see what the M4's final curb weight is going to be. I'm willing to make a bet that with Carbon Ceramic Brakes the new M4 is going to be down to around 3,300lbs, which will be fantastic. I'm still not crazy about the interior styling on the F30/F80 series though and thinking about the non-epicness that can be achieved by a 6 cylinder turbo engine even with an aftermarket exhaust doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy inside either. But we will have to see.
