Damn, I had BMW buy back my 550I for vibration issue. Porsche hasn't bought back his car after all this? Granted I had to send an email to all the execs here and in Germany to get the ball rolling.

Looks like they did well in 2013. Nudged out only by 1 point by Jaguar.

Ha you guys are funny .......this is what happens when you get attached to a brand/blinded by the marketing. ALL cars companies want your money, and for you to roll it over and over for updated head lights, new NAV, new bumper, you get the picture.

Hell cold you purchased 3 of them in less than a year clearly young Skywalker you can't resist. BMW is good
brand, but their service department sucks because they treat a M5 or M6 like a 1 series because it's just a car to them. The Porsche folks take care of me when I hit the door

You are right about that. Just cars in the end. No matter what they are it is pretty much the same story. BMW CLEARLY has been the best to deal with for me. It all depends on the dealer.

Which should equal bigger discounts on the S over future GTS stock cars. Just need to look past the GTS 'fluff' (I'm struggling as Carmine Red looks great & I prefer red stitching/alcantara to leather).

W.r.t 'fluff', reminds me of the non-M E46, the best 'setup' for UK roads (IMO) was 2.0d on 16 inch alloys with M Sport suspension (only offered on the 'ES' models in UK, all the M Sports were 17s/18s), what do I buy, 3.0i M Sport on 18s.

We seem to have turned a p-car lemon thread into a p-car buying thread... once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will...

Good point on the discounts for the Cayman S's. I've already seen used 981 Cayman S's on the market down in the $60-$70k price range as well over here in the U.S. which is probably super cheap for you UK guys.

That's sales satisfaction. It doesn't surprise me they are high on sales satisfaction - high margins = better dealers. BTW I met Bruce Pinder on Saturday. Good guy.

They are also high on reliability (number 2 to Lexus)

However on Customer Satisfaction they are below average and pretty much in same place as BMW.

That said, if I had a Lemon, I'd much rather deal with BMW. On the F10 forums nobody has a hard time with BMW on buy-backs. This Porsche story is really shocking.

It really all does depend on the dealer, the service advisor and the service manager. Which is why I always try to establish personal relationships with people that I like as I'm sure most people around here do. I wonder if the guy in the video had ever tried to establish a relationship with his Porsche SA before all the bad stuff started happening. Most people don't think this way, but if anything ever happened it's nice to know that someone on the other side has your back. However, corporate will act the way they want, in this case Porsche North America, but having the dealership go to bat for you will go a long way too.

Those rankings and indexes mostly come from the survey's they send you after your service was completed by them. I usually give glowing reviews but I know of people who have given honest input when the service was not satisfactory and the dealership went out of their way to make it right for the customer. They usually take those surveys very seriously as it also affects the service advisors and service managers personal income as well.

Nick has already started that process as well. Watch his series on this new car, his videos are pretty ggod and go into a lot of detail on the features he spec'd on the car.

I believe this is the key point Mike.

There have been instances of BMW dealers in the UK that provided excellent customer service, achieved no.1 ranking in customer satisfaction and then rested on their laurels.

My current view is that, once you go through the process enough times, you just grow immune to varying levels of service and only hope that you don't get a lemon (and it comes down to building relationships more than the car itself as Dave says above).

There are some concerns from that video though (in addition to the lack of a buy-back) - I would have expected the wiring in the door to be protected by some form of trunking if it's at risk of chafing?

You are talking about the Service Dept ratings. I believe this is actually the Customer Service rating. JD Power uses independent surveys not dealer provided surveys. Can you imagine dealers providing the data?-lol! LIES LIES LIES!

@rpim5 ^Coldlist is correct on this one. JD Powers surveys customers directly and it has nothing to do with dealer service dept surveys.

Wow, great stories Cold. I seriously learn a lot from you. Sometimes I feel really smitten with the 2014 981 Cayman S or GTS and feel I just might buy one, one day or maybe even a 991 GT3, but wow, you weren't kidding about Porsche. Now I know what to possibly expect. Your right, it's about the culture, and it starts from the top. I'm guessing that it just must be a Porsche North America thing. I wonder if Porsche in Germany, or Porsche in the UK are different or better. I know I'll keep the M5 as long as she treats me well, and I would like to get either an exotic or dedicated track car after the M5 in a few years. I really didn't know anything about Porsches until you and Vic came along. All I know is, if I ever do get a P-Car I'm calling you and Vic first. Lol!
